The media consensus is that the debate was a draw
I've watched hours of cable news, checked out all the blogs. The media will say it was a draw. I can live with that.

A number of polls show Edwards won.

But it will probably go down as a draw.

AM I WRONG?

2. a draw is an Edwards win
the vice president is a very accomplished man. That Edwards can compete at the same level shows he is capable of being Vice President

14. I think this is true. Hard to stand up to a man that made his life DC
So many of these GOP big wigs are really for big bus. but they all have made their millions from the free ride they have been on their whole lives. They never go far (in a nice way) from the cow that gives that nice sweet milk.Edwards really seemed to know his stuff and fact and I did not think he would do that good. Using Kerry name when they said not to seemed to be his big mess up and that was sort of a silly thing to have them both do. I can see not having trouble using Bush's name. Bush has been sent to the WH to get him self in line and tomorrow he will be sent out with a nice new speech someone wrote for him.

3. the media will say its a draw, but the people will give it to edwards
Cheney's not well liked in America, Edwards is.

But still, it's 'just' a VP debate.

5. Just remember, DEWEY WINS!!
media whores will do an introspective when Kerry wins 57 percent to 43 percent and nader actually hurt bush. Sam Donaldson will say "how can this be!!!", Andrea Mitchell will have to stop blowing scott mcclellan to say, "aah nooo iah aaa aalaaaa", and Shawn Hannity will say, "Kerry stole the election". Alan Colmes wont have any comment.

6. No, but the pundits are....
Now, here's an interesting one. I just went to the Wall Street Journal poll, and the spread was 92 Edwards, Cheney 7.

All the pundits will do is confirm in the electorate the belief that they are liars, just like Cheney. :)

7. I do think you're wrong.
Yes, they'll call it a draw.

But Cheney's lies will be hit hard, over the next few days, starting with the inconsequential -- about never having met Edwards before.

And Edwards was introduced to the general electorate tonight; perhaps he's not the golden boy I was hoping, but he's going to go over well.

He's going to appeal to southerners, they heard him speak and thought, "he's one of us."

He's going to appeal to women.

I think it's good he wasn't more aggressive. No one who watched the debate came away hating him.

The litany of Cheney's votes is going to be repeated -- he voted against Martin Luther King Day, voted against Meals on Wheels for seniors.

The debate may have been a draw, but I feel confident it's going to bump us in the polls.

10. I do think it's good for us
A draw is a win, basically. I think Cheney played into his negatives. Edwards came across very well. He is a golden boy.

13. Don't forget that Edwards raised the specter of the 17% increase in

Medicare premiums that takes effect in January! I'd bet that surprised quite a few seniors and disabled Americans since the news was buried in a Friday afternoon news dump last month.

Talk up the Medicare rate hike to older folks!

8. That's what I predicted
Right after the debate I got a call from my sister. She watched the debate on tv and I listened to it on the radio. We both thought Edwards won, but I told her that the media will call it a draw and the polls will call it an Edwards win.

9. Draw is okay, but there will be polls. CBS declared Edwards won
based on their focus group poll. Almost two to one of the undecideds they polled said Edwards won.

And that's before the stories of Cheney's many, many lies started making the news.

If Kerry plays this well, this could be a Kerry win by tomorrow evening.

11. Edwards did extremely well even if they do spin it
as a draw. Cheney is much more accomplished speaker than Shrub and thinks much quicker too, since Shrub rarely thinks at all.

Although we disagree with Cheney's warped outlook at the world and know he's lying bigtime about Haliburton as Edwards pointed out, Cheney still has substantial experience, albeit tainted with corruption.

I applaud Edwards for being well-prepared and agree with the analysis generally given by Mark and David on PBS.

12. I can live with that, too. I think Edwards edged him out

and if the media examined some of Cheney's "facts" they might have less enthusiasm for his "command of the facts," but that's OK. Let them grovel a bit before Mr. Gravitas.

(I didn't watch any of the media spin but I'm betting that "gravitae" and "command of the facts" were applied to Cheney more than once. Am I right?

15. I think the debate was a draw, but days of stories on Chenney's lies
could be very damaging to the Bush-Chenney campaign.

If we can help make the story about how Chenney is going around the country lying about everything, we win big.

If his lips are moving, he's lying.

16. Just like last week: The reality is that Edwards won; the media will
spin it as a draw because of their biases.
