On watching the debate a second time, I came away with a much stronger opinion of Edwards than I had after the first watching. The first time, I thought Cheney won on foreign policy and that Edwards didn't respond well enough on his own record. The second time through, I think my first reaction was because I was too familiar with Edwards' points and so didn't count them as scoring anything new. On the second watching, I think Cheney sounds more blustery than effective, while Edwards lands some bombs about Halliburton and Cheney's voting record and generally sounds more compassionate. I was especially impressed by Edwards' handling of the gay marriage question.

1. I agree. I watched it twice |

If it were a boxing match, both men landed some punches but Edwards clearly won on points. Edwards knocked him down on the mat with the final statement.

...it became even more apparent that Cheney's "performance" was in stringing together repetitive talking points (also known as "lies").
