MSNBC pundits said Cheney won? Huh? Are they nuts?
I formed my opinion after watching the debate, before listening to any TV pundits or accessing the internet. I tried to be objective.

I thought that Cheney would cream Edwards. I've never seen him nervous, on the defensive, flub a line, or lose a debate or argument. He's incredibly cool under pressure and has the ability to lie with a straight face off the cuff.

At the end of the debate, though, while I thought Cheney came through with a lot of his "stuff" on style and a bit on substance, I thought that both did well and that Edwards edged out a win by a nose. Edwards was right on, made some excruciatingly painful points (painful to the administration), kept his cool, and had almost total command of the facts in all the areas discussed.

It was an Edwards win. No doubt about it. Just by a nose, maybe. But a win, all the same. How can the pundits I saw on MSNBC think that Cheney won? Are they THAT impressed by Cheney's gravitas behavior? That little laugh that Cheney gave in response to an Edwards response? The MSNBC pundits thought that Cheney stuck it to Edwards with that. I did not. As soon as I heard the laugh, I thought it was condescending, patronizing, and was an indication that Edwards had hit the nail on the head with his response.

Edwards win, for sure. Are ALL the pundits going to disagree with that? And possibly sway public opinion? Boy, the Repub spin machine was geared up for rapid response this time, weren't they?

1. I had to turn off Tweety
almost momentarily after the debate. They were sitting there saying "Oh, Cheney...stature...blah, blah, blah...I was just thinking, were you watching what I was watching? Cheney growling and mumbling to his chest? LYING like a dog? Not even trying to offer a defense about voting against meals on wheels or his OWN defense cuts? Telling everybody that the economy was doing good? Trying to make himself out as a regular Joe?? These people really need to get out of Washington every now and then.

2. you have to be kidding about Tweety---I refused to watch him but
I was sure that their whoring worse the media had to call it a tie. Edwards did not lose and Cheney did not win. If that is what Tweety was saying then they had their 'critique' all written up beforehand and just spewed the talking points in an attempt to rescue the pathetic performance of Bush the other night. What I've seen this a.m. on MSNBC is Pat Buchanan spewing his usual crap on Imus and some stupid stuff that Imus is trying to pitch about Edwards comments on gay marriage and Cheney's daughter----he didn't bring up the subject, he was asked! Expect the whores to try to rescue Bush's miserable ass on this today because they know Bush is set to bomb 2 more times.

3. I wondered if Joe Scarborough saw the same debate I did.
That man was completely out of touch with reality. Then, of course, I realize that he's completely, 100% pro Bush.

4. No they aren't nuts...
what did you expect? Of course Big Media and the gasbags are going to claim Cheney the winner. They would have claimed * the winner in his first debate if it had been possible to do so with a straight face.

Kudos to you for being able to stomach them. Their mission is to get these criminals re-elected for the good of their "bottom line."
They are not a reputable and credible source of objective journalism and "news" in America any more.

5. WAS IT A GUY THING? The 2 women on MSNBC thought Edwards
won. It wasn't because of his looks. I am wondering: were the men on the panel just more impressed with the gravitas thing than the women were? That could be part of it.

6. Keith Olbermann blogged throughout the debate
and scored it round by round like a boxing match for Hardblogger. He thought Edwards won. Isn't it interesting that they don't include Keith on the Hardball panel? I guess liberal voices aren't supposed to be represented on-air on MSNBC. Hell, I'm surprised they let the man on the air at all for Countdown considering what they did to Phil Donahue.
