The guys in charge of our country were forced out of their hidey-holes -- |
|
and it was not a pretty sight. Cheney emerged from his undisclosed location to take questions from someone other than G.E. Russert, with John Edwards sitting across from him, and GW Bush was forced into a situation not under complete control, with John Kerry standing across from him. The American people saw these guys up close and personal, some for the first time. Pretty frightening, isn't it, folks?
Cheney, who it must be obvious now is really in charge, looks and talks like an undertaker, and somberly dwells on war and terror, evoking, at one point, El Salvador! Not exactly made for TV -- the guest you'd want in your living room. Bush...well, what more is there to say? "I know Osama Bin Laden attacked us. I know that!" He should have begun as Admiral Stockdale did as Perot's running mate: "Who am I? Why am I here?"
As Paul Krugman wrote, I think scales have fallen off millions of eyes.
