New meme to push: Bush = Yosemite Sam
Edited on Wed Oct-06-04 09:21 AM by Brotherjohn
Especially in light of the final WMD report out today, showing once and for all that there were NO WMDs in Iraq and that they had been destroyed in 1991, I think this label could stick.

Think about it. The Bush campaign says that "9-11 changed everything" and that we can't afford not to take threats seriously. Okay, but there is a difference between taking threats seriously and going off half-cocked. And you need to at least come close to accurately assessing the threats, and not attack anyone you THINK MIGHT be a threat.

The Bush administration has gone off half-cocked.

The U.S going into Iraq after 9-11 is akin to this:
Yosemite Sam walks into a saloon, and a guy with a grudge against him pops him on the back of the head with a bottle. He swings around, guns blasting. He wounds that guy, but just keeps on blastin'... "YOO HOO!!" He ends up hitting a lot of other "bad guys" in the saloon.

This kind of behavior tends to make a lot more enemies, and will likely get you killed. It's why we don't go off half-cocked. And it never helped Yosemite Sam catch Bugs Bunny.

In response to 9-11, the Bush administration has gone off half-cocked, running around the Mid-East like Yosemite Sam, shooting at anyone who looks at them funny.

Is that the kind of leadership we want in these times?

3. Sure, everybody likes him! But would you want him running the country?
Like Bush, he's the guy you'd want to have a beer with, but...

6. Bush is a Looney Toon. He's nuts and living in fantasy land.

Note, I think he resembles Elmer Fudd more:

8. Thanks for the great links, pics etc. I know this isn't really "new"...
However, it's been mostly limited to alternative and left-leaning media.

But what I'm saying is the time is ripe for KERRY and EDWARDS to start to portray Bush as a "Yosemite Sam".

Not only is it true, and the newest (lack of) WMD report makes that clear yet again, but it highlights the key difference between Kerry and Bush re Iraq.

Kerry LOOKS before he shoots. Bush SHOOTS FIRST and asks questions later.

Bush couldn't even wait for the inspectors to finish their job... the inspectors HE ASKED to go back in!

He's got an itchy trigger finger, as Iraq has been conclusively proved by the facts on the ground in Iraq. And the meme that should be spread is: "Do you want someone with an itchy trigger finger at the helm during these times?"

10. Check out "Ballot Box Bunny"
this Looney Tune is on DVD (as opposed to the ones in the White House), and is a classic Bugs vs. Yosemite Sam cartoon where they run for mayor. Of course Bugs gets the better of Sam...
