Who else thought that the question about telling about yourself |
|
without mentioning the presidential candidate's name was entirely INANE?
Still, Edwards should have done better...
Also, why the hell did Edwards question the moderator at the end when he thought that it wasn't his turn? Take the time and screw the rules, John! It was housekeeping mundaneness while you had millions of people that you needed to communicate with.
Does anyone really think that Cheney would have hestitated in grabbing extra time?

...especially condidering the fact that a pronoun could be used instead and accomplish the exact same thing!

2. Not just inane, but moronic |
|
Ifill's moderating was poorly done, in my opinion, and really distracted from the last half of the debate.

Sometime during the debate Cheney says "Gwen..." and Ifill says " Mr. Vice President..."
One point I loved, though. Cheney said something about a question and Ifill says "That's the question, Mr. Vice President."

3. Are you kidding? That was the best thing of the night! |
|
Edwards scored a TON of points by being mindful of the rules, laughing about using Kerry's name.. and being charming. It worked to his benefit.

5. I just thought that it showed him to be kinda ditzy. |
|
He didn't seem to be doing it on purpose--- like with a charming, roguish impudence. He just seemed to be unable to focus on the question and the "rule."
I hope that it struck a lot of people like it did you.

6. No. It just reinforced how stupid that "rule" was. |
|
This isn't a high-school homework assignment. We are electing a President here. No one cares about stupid, contrived rules about whether you are allowed to mention our next President's name or not.

7. I wondered about that too... |
|
it was like a trick played on Edwards (which he handled beautifully so no harm done).
Edwards used John Kerry's name many many times throughout the debate I believe to saturate the point that Kerry and Edwards work as a team... Notice that Cheney didn't make much reference to His partner at all - as this would be more an embarrassment than a positive.

8. Some talking heads picked up on Cheney's much "non-re f" |
|
to Bush. They riffed on whether his better appearance actually showed up Bush.
I have to disagree to an extent. Cheney gave Bush a strong thumbs up several times but clearly he didn't need anybody's help in defending the administration and himself. I mean, afterall, Cheney is the chief architect of the Iraq policy. He should be able to defend it well.
