Nader Says a Run Would Benefit Democrats
Nader Says a Run Would Benefit Democrats

ASHINGTON, Jan. 9 — He is sounding like a presidential candidate again, charging the Bush administration with "messianic militarism and subservient corporatism," and the Democrats with soft-pedaling liberal policies that were once mainstays of their party.
...
Four years ago, he said he was running for president because he believed that the major-party nominees, Mr. Gore and George W. Bush, were virtually indistinguishable and that the parties were too cozy with corporate America. Now Mr. Nader, 69, says he has seen enough of Mr. Bush's administration to make defeating him and ending Republican control of Congress the chief goals. And those goals are more achievable, he says, if he joins the race.
...
Mr. Nader would run this year as an independent. (The Green Party will not pick its nominee until June, too late, he says, to mount an effective campaign.) And here is how he says his running could work to the Democrats' advantage:

1. Nader's Impact would Depend on Candidate
If Dean, he probably pulls 1-2%. If Clark, I don't think core liberal voters will be convinced that "messianic militarism and subservient corporatism" is on the way out, to use Nader's words.

2. he's clearly lost it
He is just looking for attention. Its actually kinda sad to see someone that did so much good early on not know when to hang it up.

4. What's sad is that Nader has to keep this party honest
...and from drifting into GOP-lite just to "win".

9. so you prefer to loose?
you like it better if Republicans get the nod than a moderate Dem? That makes no sense. I'd much rather have anybody on the left of Bush than Bush. People that are bitching about selling out to win, you have to win and get into office to affect policy...but you know that is a minor detail.

6. He'll be around so long as we stand for militarism and corporatism
and at least the DLC/Lieberman/and perhaps Clark represents that side of the party. Clark supported the war, fought a unilateral war in Serbia in defiance of the UN, praised Blair and Bush for their "courage", and is against re-regulation to rein in corporate abuses.

7. Nader's a nitwit...............
with an ego big enough to fill Texas. He can't stand the possibility that his name won't be on the ballot for him to see. Of he honestly cared about this country, he'd support the Democratic nominee.
He won't though, because it's all about Ralph. The entire election is about Ralph. Ralph, Ralph, Ralph!

8. Nader also said
There was no difference between Al Gore and George W. Bush. Pardon me if I happen to think Ralph is full of shite.
