We could have had as many as 15,000 French soldiers in Iraq.
That is what is said in a new book, as reported by the Washington Post:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A9709-2004Oct5.html?sub=AR

According to WAPO, the book says Chirac wanted to have French troops in Iraq, if Hussein refused to allow inspectors. He sent his people to the Pentagon in Dec. 02 to plan logistics for his French troops to go to Iraq.

But the bushistas screwed up the initiative because the shrub did not like Chirac's ongoing references to the coWard's father, and they were not willing to wait for the inspectors to do their job.

Another Iraq screw up by the shrub and his horde.

1. Those French soldiers
owe their LIVES to Bush's stupidity.

2. The coWard's attitude for his father is bordering on insane.
Chirac knew Bush's father, former president George H.W. Bush, well, but that relationship actually proved to be a distraction for the current president, according to the book, which says that Bush was annoyed that Chirac kept mentioning his father at every occasion. For months, French diplomats asked Chirac not to refer to Bush's father when he met the president, but he kept doing it.

During one of Bush's first European trips, when the new president impressed other European leaders at a summit, Chirac excitedly pulled out his cell phone to call Bush's father to report that the new president had done a great job, the authors said.

"The father reported this to his son," Cantaloube said. "It was not very well received in the White House.

3. That's why he wanted nothing to do with Chirac.
He was deathly afraid that Chirac would compare him in an unflattering way with his father publicly.

If Chirac were a US ally, this negative comparison would have been much more significant than it would be now, with Chirac on the outs with the shrub.

I suppose God told the shrub to behave like an 8 year old with thousands of lives at stake.
