So That Cretin Lynn Cheney....
Edited on Wed Oct-06-04 01:19 PM by BlueNomad
.. was just shown on MSNBC spinning her husband's lie about not meeting Edwards by saying--the Edwards people are scrambling to find places where the Edwards families and the Cheneys have "crossed paths" (making it sound like she bumped into some losers in the Walmart parking lot) ....she went on to say --it was a prayer breakfast four years ago and I know we all like pray breakfasts but don't you think it's better that you show up once in while at the Senate we're you're supposed to be...and all the drunks and stepfords in the audience cheer wildly as her husband Porkchop looks on glowingly...

They have to be the most disgusting evil gruesome twosome....

2. Lynn really is freaky isn't she?
If the right wing has a "Hillary" it's Lynn Cheney. She's positivly ghoulish and disturbing, just like her husband. I read of an interview with her (sorry no link) where she pretty much asserted that she wears the pants in the family, and that Dick is where he is today (as Veep) because she wills it.

Scary stuff.

7. Honestly never gave Lynn Cheney two seconds of thought ...
(figured she was just another piece of useless arm "candy" for another useless GOP) until last week when I saw her with Dick Head during a "town hall" meeting. Lynn make some cutesy remark about "Dick just loves the color orange. The crowd roared to the reference that Kerry had an "orange" suntan. That was the talking point for the freepers that week. Totally lame but more than that it was mean and very petty. I wanted to call the chick up and ask her,"Is that all you got? You guys are down to talking tan colors?" Jeez.

15. According to the September issue of Rolling Stone:
"While Dick Cheney hides his conservatism beneath a veneer of can-do competency, his wife, Lynne, is the family's true ideologue. For two decades, she has led a crusade against academics who teach the warts-and-all version of American history. Tapped by Ronald Reagan to head the National Endowment for the Humanities in 1986, Lynne Cheney used the post to fight the right-wing's culture wars, funding projects only if they complied with her conservative worldview. In 1994, she attacked the National History Standards, calling them too focused on women and minorities at the expense of white men. More recently, the American Council of Trustees and Alumni, a group she founded, denounced college faculty as "the weak link in America's response" to terrorism. "Lynne Cheney has been on a mission for over a decade to try to clamp down on dissent on campus," said MIT Professor Hugh Gusterson. "This fits with a long-term agenda she has."

4. Yes, I saw that! I guess she hasn't seen the other pictures
and video tape that the media has at other events, like the swearing in of Sen. Dole, the video that shows Edwards sitting directly beside Cheney at a head table of some event.

I think this "I never met you until tonight on this stage" BS was explained quite well by Sen Lehey (I think it was him) who said that Cheney does come up to the Hill most Tuesdays, but ONLY meets with the Pugs! Great example of a uniter, huh?

5. Found an article from 2003 about Edwards' Senate attendance.
snip...

Before this year, Edwards missed just seven votes out of 1,307 in his first four years in office, Briggs said. During his five years in the Senate, Edwards voted 1,551 times out of 1,626 roll-call votes, Briggs said, or 95.4 percent.

snip...

Hmmmm.... seems that John Edwards was in attendance for damn near 100% of the votes the first two years of Cheney's vice-presidency. Where the hell was Cheney?

9. One more thing, why is Lynn so concerned about the
Cheney and Edwards families "crossing paths?" I don't think Cheney was making a point last night about the Cheneys' and Edwardses' social calenders. He was trying to imply that Edwards wasn't doing his job. Evidently by now she has the figures on how many votes Edwards placed during Cheney's tenure so it is time to misdirect again. Yeah, they have met each other but personally I don't give a damn how many times their paths have crossed. Dick Head lied, a lot, that is the point. Lynn needs to go home and bake cookies or whatever it is that GOP wives do between elections.

20. The other point is: If he didn't notice Edwards at the prayer breakfast,
he probably didn't notice that Edwards was present in the Senate all those times either.

So it's not just that it's a lie that makes it significant--it undermines his entire point.

But I thought Edwards had already done that quite handily when he responded with Cheney's own dismal voting record.

29. Elizabeth Edwards is 10 times the
woman that Lynne Cheney is. Edwards has ultimate charm and graciouness, but best of all, is highly intelligent, knowledgeable and a great speaker who captivates her audience.

I can't help it. Everytime I see or think of Lynne Cheney, The Daily Show video of her from the RNC pops in my mind and it makes me giggle.

"Dick did not."

Those who saw it know what I'm talking about.

We do that here, too. My two boys (10 and 12), whenever they see Cheney on TV, say, "Dick did not!" Now, whenever they see *, they say, "Don't forget Poland!"

We are a simple, happy family. :toast:

Edited on Wed Oct-06-04 03:00 PM by RhodaGrits
I cannot fathom how she gets from writing lesbian bodice rippers and raising a gay daughter to this. Just don't get it. It would be far more understandable to me if she did the "normal" thing and had divorced him years ago and referred to him with a snarl as her "ex" as she continued with a career. Apparently managing dick and conning the Right was more appealing.

27. The need to bring this up at their campaign stop today shows that
they know that the media knows that we know that it's what is going to kill Cheney in the "who won the debate" department. This is how they hunted down people like Gore and destroyed him in the public eye and now they stepped right into the same quicksand.........buuh bye George and Dick.

Vicious, snide, selfish and consumed with a self-proclaimed version of egocentrism called "rectitude", she is the perfect model of a Republican.

^ Cheney presided over the Senate only TWO times in the past four years....no wonder he didn't meet Edwards in that capacity.
