Fullscale freep in progress

Was going through Yahoo articles, and saw this article: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/latimests/cheneyandedwardshavemetbefore

I read and rated it. Now I've seen funny things happen with these ratings (like rating it up, and seeing the score go down - even though the vote count only incremented by one) so I pay attention to what the before and after totals are.

When I opened this short article to read, it had 318 votes with a score of 4.2. Less than a minute later, it had 458 votes, and a score of 3.94.

Don't let them bury this!

When I read this, there were 45 votes and a score of 4.28.
Less than 20 seconds later, it went to 160 votes and a score of 4.23!

Am beginning to think the rating algorithm is not calculated in real-time. It's been 3.82 for a while now, looking back up this thread, even as the votes change.
