5. "Overwhelming evidence" --Cheney
Edited on Wed Oct-06-04 02:53 PM by MsMagnificent
Vice President Dick Cheney told National Public Radio in January that there was "overwhelming evidence" of a relationship between Saddam and al-Qaida. Among the evidence he cited was Iraq's harboring of Abdul Rahman Yasin, a suspect in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

WASHINGTON — Vice President Dick Cheney revived two controversial assertions about the war in Iraq on Thursday, declaring there was "overwhelming evidence" that Saddam Hussein had a relationship with Al Qaeda and that two trailers discovered after the war were proof of Iraq's biological weapons programs.

6. "...long established ties with al Qaeda" --Cheney
Vice President Dick Cheney, in a speech Monday in Florida, raised eyebrows by reasserting claims that Saddam "had long-established ties with al Qaeda."

10. But here's the rub:
My understanding is that he's claiming he never mentioned a link between Iraq and 9/11 -- that claiming a link between Iraq and Al Qaeda isn't the same thing. It's the kind of parsing they always do, as if the idiots who believe them are making that "subtle" distinction. And as Edwards hammered last night, the connection between Iraq and Al Qaeda is "tenuous, at best."
