1. Introduced resolutions to curb predatory lending

2. Worked hard to modernize banking laws

3. Introduced legislation to improve federal consumer law on sweepstakes

4. Introduced six bills to improve homeleand security

5. Re-introduced legislation with McCain and Kennedy to pass a patients' rights bill

6. Cosponsored legislation that would give schools more flexibility in meeting performance standards set under the No Child Left Behind law.

7. Introduced legislation to lower prescription drug costs by stopping misleading drug ads.

8. Introduced the Better Future for American Families Act to strengthen progressive tax credits to help middle-class families.

9. He helped write legislation for improved airport security, safer seaports and reduced vulnerability to bioterrorism.

10. Introduced legislation to offer a tax credit to dry cleaners who use environmentally-friendly technology and fought for funding to research new waste treatment technology to help hog farmers clean up waste lagoons.

11. Cosponsored a measure to improve the quality of health care for people serving in the military and their families, including more than 100,000 military personnel stationed in North Carolina.

12. Cosponsored legislation to ensure lifetime health care benefits for military retirees and their families.

13. Initiated a measure to provide tax relief for members of the military who are deployed in areas where they are vulnerable to hostile fire.

He's never voted against Head Start.

He's not in favor of allowing plastic weapons that can pass through metal detectors.

He never tried to abolish the Department of Education.

He isn't against Meals for Wheels for seniors.

He hasn't opposed honoring Martin Luther King.

And he never supported keeping Nelson Mandela in prison.
