Okay let me put my journalism degree to use and explain how evil what Bush did today was.
Because Bush said that he was going to give a major policy speech. It then falls under the category of a presidential address. If he had said he was going to give a press conference then they would have had to give Kerry a shot at equal time. If that had been the case then the cable news shows would have probably not run the speech and we would have just heard sound bites, like any other stump speech. However, because it was a "presidential address" there is no obligation for the networks to give Kerry one second of rebuttal time.
It was evil and well planned for that reason. You almost have to admire it in a sick way.

I want Kerry and his people to put up a huge stink for equal air time anyway.
Otherwise the chimp will declare a "major policy address" every other time he opens his smirkin' yap, just to get extra free air time that isn't paid for with his advertising dollars.
In fact, I think Kerry should file an FEC complaint on grounds that this speech was an election ploy with no substantive policy information.
PS -- I've been a journalist since 1972, although currently unemployed. They're outsourcing reporting and editing jobs to India now.

out of it today. What speech did Bush give today and why was it different from all the other garbage speeches he gives? Sorry--I haven't had any news since I went to bed last night--I just logged on today.
