GOP Pissed at Chris Matthews...

MSNBC’S CHRIS MATTHEWS CLAIMS: “Last night, we showed a tape on our show, on MSNBC, establishing the fact in no uncertain terms that the Vice President had asserted on ‘Meet The Press’ that Saddam Hussein was responsible for 9/11.” (NBC’s “Today,” 10/6/04)

THE TRUTH: VICE PRESIDENT CHENEY NEVER
SAID IRAQ WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR 9/11

They'll be calling for Chris' job next!

7. I think Tweety got overwhelmed by the gravitas and missed the big
picture. All the male pundits on MSNBC thought Cheney had won. When two female pundits were on the panel for a short while, they BOTH said, in essence, that Edwards had won. Chris couldn't understand that, but didn't totally diss it. He thought it was a "woman thing." (I guess because of Edwards looks?)

I saw Tweety this morning as a guest on MSNBC, and he seemed different from the night before. He'd obviously seen the polls and heard other pundits' opinions. He was more down than the night before, and less sure, and said that he'd repeat his opinion from the night before, but that it appeared that others obviously had a different view.

He and the guys just got into a group think thingie the night of the debate, and failed to see the debate as objectively as they should have.

10. It's just funny...
Because last night when everyone was calling for Matthews head, I defended him and got accused of being a Freeper.

I love it how people will tar and feather the Hosts for making one call they don't agree with. It's hilarious.

16. You'll find there's quite a bit of
a herd mentality here occasionally.

Welcome to DU.

20. Why would a host call the winner in the first place
Because he wants to make news instead of report it. While I never complain much when Matthews appears to help a dem candidate, I still believe we would be far better off with more straight news reporting and less of the sensationalist "its all about me" tv news hosts.

9. I saw Chris Matthews on Jeopardy
I knew what he looked like, but not having Cable had never seen him before. He missed a question only requiring a person to know what the Capital of Sweden was. This man runs a public affairs program?

15. Whatever
There have been AP and Reuters stories all week about Cheney "blurring" the picture. He is constantly suggesting that Iraq was a "centerpiece of the war on terror," and has consistently, in the same breath, talked about "contacts" or "a relationship" between Saddam and al Qaeda.

Look, they had occasional contacts. However, the CIA, the 9-11 Commission and the Senate Intel Committee -- and DONALD RUMSFELD -- said that Iraq was NOT RESPONSIBLE for 9-11, but Cheney continues to couple al Qaeda and Saddam, every chance he gets.

They know that 40 percent of the FUCKING DELUSIONAL people in this country believe that Iraq was "payback" for 9-11, for the crowd -- their constituency -- who thinks a "towelhead's a towelhead," and can't even find IRAQ ON A MAP, much less parse through Republican talking points, the hate radio echo chamber and the failure of the media to make it clear that Saddam was not responsible for 9-11.

If that illusion is SHATTERED, they're in for some trouble. That's the main brick in the wall of deception -- without it, they're either left with "we liberated the people of Iraq from a brutal dictator," which, TECHNICALLY is a LIBERAL, ALTRUISTIC argument, or, since there are no WMDs, that THE WAR MUST HAVE BEEN FABRICATED FOR ANY NUMBER OF REASONS: to boost a failing economy, to enact a far-right ideological Straussian plot, to protect Israel, to funnel taxpayer money to the defense, oil and Halliburton industries, or to sell off Iraq, wholesale, to the highest bidder (their friends) who would reap the benefits of a "democratic," oil-rich nation.

Which means that their sons and daughters and neighbors and brothers and sisters and fathers died to put a bigger steak on the plate of Dick Cheney's friends -- the true elites -- and that the leaders that they had elevated to God status -- dickered them.

And wouldn't that make them feel like assholes?

Try again, GOP. We've got you nailed on this one.

It was handed to Matthews by a mysterious woman named Ms. Quan who said it was from someone who looked like a man.
