Was that the weirdest surrealist speech today?
I havent seen a lot of his campaign speeches, so
maybe theyre all like that, but it seemed like the
whole thing was under a bubble. The crowd sounded
like a sit-com crowd that wasnt sure sometimes
whether to boo or laugh or groan or cheer. And he
looked like a comedian who was tanking. The joke
about "hard work," who wrote that, some guy they
pulled off the street? Bush just seemed like a hollow
man who suddenly couldn't hide it even from himself
anymore, a man whose days are numbered, giving a speech
right before walking his last mile, pretending that
everything was all right when doom was scrawled all
over his face. One little debate and the whole facade
cracks and crumbles. I said a little prayer before the
last debate that Bush would be revealed for who he is.
He was. I doubt he can do worse in the next one, but
why not? If anything, he'll be in worse shape. And um
and um and um and um and um and um ...

1. Has he already given it?
What did he say? Was there anything newsworthy in it? Details man, details.

2. Basically a laundry list on economy & war/terror.
Not a damn thing new that I heard. Except, like I say,
a lame joke on "hard work" meant to take the sting off
his idiotic repetition in the debate, and a flopsweat
look on his face that said, "Why do I have this feeling that
people can see through me? Why do all these bashKerry gags
feel flat as roadkill today?"

Immediately after it was over all the cable stations went
to Rush's drugs story.

Please let us in on what "Hard Work" joke he made to try and lessen the impact of his repeating that line at least 11 times in his ramblings on the stage with Kerry.

EDIT~And where does your sig line come from?:)

In his speech, Bush accused Kerry of being "a tax-and-spend liberal" who would increase taxes and add regulations to businesses. ``It wasn't easy for my opponent to become single most liberal member of the United States Senate, you might even say it was hard work," Bush said. "He earned that title."

Sig line's from Dylan, Highway 51, a "promoter" talking about promoting WWIII.
EDIT: Highway 61 Revisited.

4. Baghdad Dubya
Still, we would be fools to ignore the reality that we are confronted by a cabal of evildoers who will stop at literally nothing to stay in power, one way or another.

Worse, the media is largely on their side.

If Kerry wins it will be the greatest victory for the common man since Andrew Jackson's inaugeration.

He was so over-the-top with his inaninity and lies that it seemed worthless to get upset over it. Was like watching a train wreck in slow motion. And all smiles and grins from the moron.

11. And he's really into that side-to-side jaw-grinding
thing, like a little kid who keeps
telling the same fart joke over and over and can
tell the adults are fed up with him and it. There
was a touch of panic in them thar eyes.

13. NPR ran a piece on the speech
this afternoon. They too must be reading the Blog because it echoed the sentiments here. They played audio of the speech, and Bush sounded pretty bad on the radio. Sounded like he was imitating John Wayne or something; his accent didn't sound real.
