Seems Dick did a double whammy against himself with factcheck.com
First the obvious which was he gave out the wrong webaddress. When defending the claims John Edwards made against him about Halliburton, Cheney referenced his information from a University of Pennsylvania website called factcheck.com

Well, we all know how the story went from there. Folks all listened to Dick, went to the website and they were redirected to http://www.georgesoros.com, website to Anti-Bush Billionaire George Soros (who says his website had nothing to do with the webdirect. But I'm sure our friend George isn't upset about the 'endorsement' made by Dick at the debate last night!!!

That's WHAMMY #1

WHAMMY #2 comes from the real website that it seems Dick really wanted us to visit: http://www.factcheck.org. According to the website:

factcheck.org, run by the Annenberg Center of the University of Pennsylvania, said on its site on Wednesday that Cheney not only got the domain name confused, he had mischaracterized its fact-finding.

DAMN DICK, YOU'RE GOING DOWN IN FLAMES!!!!!

3. Dick's "figuring"
Edited on Wed Oct-06-04 05:29 PM by zoeb
Dick "figured" Howard Dean's anti-war stance was the reason behind Kerry's so called flip-flopping.
Dick figured no one would catch him lying in last night's debate. Dick figured there were WMDs.
Dick figured there was a connection between Saddam and 911.
Dick's figuring is getting a lot of young Americans killed!
I figure Dick won't be VP after November 2nd!

4. factcheck excerpt

http://www.factcheck.org/article.aspx?docID=272
Cheney got our domain name wrong -- calling us "FactCheck.com" -- and wrongly implied that we had rebutted allegations Edwards was making about what Cheney had done as chief executive officer of Halliburton.

In fact, we did post an article pointing out that Cheney hasn't profited personally while in office from Halliburton's Iraq contracts, as falsely implied by a Kerry TV ad. But Edwards was talking about Cheney's responsibility for earlier Halliburton troubles. And in fact, Edwards was mostly right.

12. I wonder who screwed up
Edited on Wed Oct-06-04 07:49 PM by ThoughtCriminal
Did Cheney just flub the URL or did some idiot aid give it to him?

Even if he got it right, factcheck.org isn't really a place that he wants voters digging into. Someone probably just followed a link to the Haliburton article and didn't bother to check the rest of the site's content.

Dick is no Al Gore!

13. It was Clinton's fault!
Clearly, the Clintons are behind this. They must have gotten to Rove, who in turn gave cheney the bad URL.

But wait the Clintons want Kerry to lose so Hillary can be Pres. Hmmmm. They must have gotten to Rove and accidentally passed him the wrong URL, since they really wanted Kerry and Edwards to look bad. But they screwed up! Shows how dumb those Clintons are! Stupid Clintons!

</sarcasm>

:)

Hmmm....I wonder if any freepers have actually reached this "conclusion" yet?
