Another Cheney lie from last night
I'm not sure if anyone else caught this.

CHENEY:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6187803/
In effect, what‘s happened is that in recent months, especially in Massachusetts, but also in California, but in Massachusetts we had the Massachusetts Supreme Court direct the state of—the legislature of Massachusetts to modify their constitution to allow gay marriage.

THE TRUTH:
http://www.cnn.com/2003/LAW/11/18/samesex.marriage.ruling/
In a 4-3 ruling, the court gave the Massachusetts state Legislature six months to rewrite the state's marriage laws for the benefit of gay couples.

This is not a minor point - there are miles of difference between a court ordering the change of an unconstitutional law, and a court ordering the change of a constitution.

Am I being too picky?

1. That's a good point, but it's also possible that Cheney
didn't do that one intentionnally.

4. yes, especially since his enthusiasm
for that particular bush pet project is, shall we say, LESS THAN than for others more worthy, like bombing third world countries back to the stone age in order to line your own pockets.

5. I highly doubt that Cheney misunderstood.

After being in Congress and government, Cheney has no excuse. The difference between a statute and a constitution is profound, and Cheney was simply LYING for dramatic effect, thinking nobody would call him on it.

2. Not at all
Just another B/C example of:
distortion of facts
OR
ignorance.
Take your pick

3. not at all... it is a significant difference
between rewriting a law and amending the state constitution--but those to whom cheney was playing last night would never get the subtle nuances of that.
