the media is now getting a bit scared of their own coverage of Bush falling over his feet last week, so they're rushing to be "objective," to balance out the post-presidential debate commentary with "it was pretty much a draw" style judgments on Edwards/Cheney.
Bush is frightened now. The media is frightened of Bush frightened.

The media tends to have a herd mentality. When * looked strong at a scripted convention the media whores ran with it. They thought Kerry was finished. With * and Cheney looking bad in the debates plus recent reports debunking WMDs the media's running the other way.

6. yes, i see this as well |

we can attribute a portion of their bad behavior to the trauma of 911. when a nation is at war it just "feels" better to have blind faith that "daddy" will keep us safe. in my opinion the shock of all that is wearing off. misinformation is being challenged now more than ever in these last four years. seeing "daddy" look so stupid next to kerry and cheney obviously evil next to edwards. our "war" that is killing so many civilians no longer looks courageous and right. house of cards falling down. i am hopeful this is all a sign of contagious enlightenment. cheney's vast experience in foreign relations kinda makes ya look right in the eye of what terrified the terrorists peace

of the American public. The media is also responsible for this war. Before the war, they fed us kool-aid about WMD's, avoided the facts (which were available) and when the war started we were fed only what pleased bu$hco. They need to be held accountable for their role as zombies. Hell, they are as much accomplices in war crimes as "Hate Radio" was found to be in Rwanda, but I guess that sounds kinda extreme...

8. I think they are tying to understand a paradigm shift in the democrats |
|
To summarize, there were thousands of us marching against the war and asking for "proof" that there were WMD's, etc. While they knew it was happening, they did not give it adequate coverage. As it turns out, we (the thousands) were right... we were also united.
Then there was Howard Dean who was ultimately responsible for bring unity back to the many factions of this party. They predicted he would be the candidate, and they were wrong.
Most recently the debates. Time and again, they predicted it was JK/JE's to loose. Once again we came together and helped control that spin.
So, I really think there is a lot of soul searching going on in the media right now. They know, as we know, they have missed the mark more often then they have hit it. That combined with other events of the past week (Rummy, Bremmer, WMD Report, etc) have them grasping to do business in a different manner.
Unfortunately, that means they are going to have to "work" and do real "journalism"...so yes, I think that scares them to their core.
Just my 2cents,
MZr7
