1. She did fine - she got a little rattled with the back and forth and a
couple questions were worded awkwardly but overall I thought she did ok. I think they should dispense with the one minute "discussion" phase. If they want to say more let them use some of their time before answering the next question - both Edwards and Cheney did that anyway. Of course Bush probably couldn't handle it but so what? His problem.

2. from my differing perception, I though that the whole looked like
Edited on Thu Oct-07-04 02:52 AM by flordehinojos
the scene from a room in any grammar school "detention" room where kids are sent for not doing their home work, are forced to do the homework, cannot talk directly to each other, have to talk to the monitor in the room, and have to do what the monitor in the room says.

With that said, i thought Gwenn Ifill could have presented a better set of questions which could have moved the "show" forward. As it was, the show got stuck in a merry-go-round where one participant was determined to continue peddling his lies and the other one was determined not to let one lie stand.

Because neither participant was able to freely ask questions of each other, because the hour didn't seem to move, because the entire thing seemed to get "stuck" ... i thought the big loser was the democratic process itself.
