Folks, I gotta vent. First, Thanks DU for your guidance |

meaning....thank you for being a rallying point for young people and old alike who are progressive, who see our country heading to disaster, and who will stop at nothing in efforts to get Bush defeated and Kerry elected.
Seeing your media action list, the list of polls we can vote in, offering coordination for people on the state level..it is all so critical. We need this level of organization to have a chance.
Now, I saw both debates. I watched them without prejudice. Bush clearly got spanked by Kerry both on style and substance. It was the most lopsided debate I've seen in quite some time. Based on that, I expected the VP debate to be seen by many as more even. It seems the more informed and activist types on here and in the media analyst class could see both scored their points and it was pretty even. But....the all-critical middle roaders, moderates, undecideds...tipped in favor of Edwards. I think it was his empathetic style and his calm but resolute points where he drove home the Bush Cheney lies without calling them that.
DEMS REALLY LEARNED FRO 2000 debate fiascos.
However, I am very upset by the viciousness of attacks on Kerry by Bush in the last couple of days. I live in Oregon and am bombarded by all kinds of deceiving ads by Bush-CHeney and now a new swiftvet ad that includes wives of POWs who were against Kerry's protests after he came back.
I'm so sick of them saying all of this "flip flopping" business with nary a response by Kerry in the last couple of days.
KERRY-EDWARDS 04: you've got to attack! attack! attack! Get up on TV and blister them. Offer your pointed and relevant attacks of their personalities, their lies, their past lives both in public and private sector, the evil decisions they've made. Get testimonials from the military folks who decry what bush is doing. Get testimonials from business leaders saying Bush is hurting them.
ATTACK! ATTACK! ATTACK!
NOw's the time. Get those people out there realizing we've got to stop these madmen. I know they don't want to suppress turnout by going too negative, but just call it like it is...be honest...and offer the contrast of what you will do.
We have come too far...invested too much...to fall short now. I want a cushion in our numbers so we can deal such a stunning defeat to them that no amount of fraud can steal it from us.

1. I live in CA and Kerry is putting ads here but I get cable. I've seen 2 |
|
one calls him a liar, and the second one point the lies out. Very short and to the point. I haven't seen them often but have seen them . All this cost money so I'm not sure why you haven't but please don't give up. We are his warrriors, he depends on us. We will prevail.

4. Isn't CA a lock for Kerry? |
|
Probably doesn't need to spend much air time there.

2. It's tempting to encourage this kind of thing |
|
and we know going negative is often successful.
However, in precinct walks I have talked to people (several) who were going to vote for Nader because they're sick of the "negative attacks from both sides".
Think about the progress Kerry has made, first pulling himself out of a deep, deep hole in the primaries--now tied with an incumbent, during a war. Kerry is attacking with brute force logic (granted, he has a stronger hand to play). I don't know how if he could have run this campaign much better than he has.

3. For some reason that I don't know |
|
Kerry decided to take a few days off before the next debate. I think he's pacing himself for the final sprint. They did show him on the news today congratulating Edwards on his performance in the vice presidential debate.

|
d machines. That is the only way it can be fraud proof. Find the thread about contacting the FCC and demanding a free hour of uninterrupted air time for Kerry ion response to Bu$h's hour long political add this morning and do it. I did.

6. I missed that thread. was that regarding the "important speech" |
|
where he just laid into Kerry again as usual with the same 4 or 5 gems he memorized while on the sh*tter in Crawford?
I definitely will email the FCC as I did regarding their rules changes for ownership. but we all know how that will go.

8. I think I heard that speech on Hannity on the radio |
|
It sounded like another "911! Vote for me!!" speech. What, that old chestnut? Geez louise, isn't there a flipside to that record? We've all heard this song before.

9. The POW wives ad is truly disturbing. |
|
Maybe this is sexist, but seeing the bile vomited by those women is just shocking. I am taken off-guard by females being as down and dirty as Newt Gingrich and KKKarl Rove.
Recently, I watched an anti-war demonstration in front of the White House on C-Span. Several parents who lost their children in Iraq spoke out against Bush and the war. They moved me to tears.
Maybe the Dems or an independent producer should capture that grief for a commercial (which in itself would be exploitative). However, those parents are not concerned about intellectual niceties.
This whole Bush Administration is a blight upon the World.
