Man, will Bush be like, totally ready for this debate Friday. I'm scared
Sure Bush had a bad first debate. But let's not forget that this was the first debate Bush EVER lost. The bar will be set high for him. All the full resources of the Executive Branch will be brought to bear to prepare Bush for Friday's showdown with Kerry. And this is Bush among the regular people, the people he connects with.

But for Bush, the most important thing now is for him to show that, after 3 1/2 years on the job, he's in full command of the facts that brought us to war and the nuances of running the government. I can't see how he could possibly make another careless slip again this time. Sure, we've all heard his talking points, but certainly that's not all there is to the man. I mean, he's been leading the free world for the last four years. The idea that he might not know what's going on is just too terrible to contemplate. Let's not go there.

No, a consummate professional--an accomplished millionaire business leader like Bush--knows that this is the time to stand and deliver. We've seen him talk his sound bites. Friday he's gonna show that he's not just mouthing words... he needs to show America an awareness of the minute details of governing this great and complex country. This is his task and I'm sure he's gonna perform. If he can't show that Friday, well...

Forget it, he knows that we're all looking for him to show not just a memorization of a few facts, but a commanding awareness of all the nuances of his policies, foreign and domestic. He's got to show me that he's a natural leader, not just a spokesmodel in a suit. That's the standard that we must hold our president to.

Pass it along... ;)

2. I dont think he will ever show Kerry up
I mean, his positions are just plain wrong. As much as people want to believe he's just a good ole boy, in their heart they know by now what we're dealing with.

I don't think we will see such an obvious mismatch as last Thursday again, either this time or the next debate. The arrogant SOB was just caught by his own overconfidence. That's not likely to happen again, dammmit. So Kerry may beat him once, or both times, but not by such an obvious margin.

3. If I were Kerry...
I would be scared shitless. * knows how to work hard when he has to, and he'll be ready for this debate.

5. I keep re-reading this post........

And I keep hoping to discover a hint which will reveal it as sarcasm. But I can't find it.

Bush? Hard work? Hard %$#*&^) WORK!?? You gotta be kidding me. The man is never armed with any facts. He won't be ready for this debate; he'll be coached hard but in the end will only remember 5 minutes worth of soundbites which he will endlessly repeat like some sort of weird Cabbage Patch doll no matter what question is asked. He will have trouble filling the 2 minute response period and will resort to a lot of "Uh....."'s and repetitive nonsense.

The only thing to worry about is the Machiavellian nature of his coaching team. They will no doubt prepare Bush with some nasty material but a) it'll all be bullshit by default, so Kerry just needs to not get caught flat-footed and b) Bush's ability to drive a point home with any skill closely approximates my ability to fly to the moon using nothing but happy thoughts.

If Kerry makes any effort he destroys Bush yet again.

6. Sorry--
Sarcasm is hard before I've had my coffee. I fear that the media will declare * the winner if he manages to get through Friday without peeing himself and freezing his face permanently into a smirk, so I'm just trying to raise expectations.

Of course, truth be told, I think Kerry will crucify him. :spank: :nuke:

7. I knew I must be missing it
I've seen a post or two from you before, Bush cheerleading has never been your M.O. I worry too about the media but frankly Bush has to give them SOMETHING to work with, otherwise it's impossible to spin it into a win. I'm not sure he can manage even that much.

8. I hope you're right...
I think the "Mulligan" speech was a *huge* error in judgment on Shrub's part; his confidence in media whoring might actually be starting to outweigh pundits' tolerance for his bushit.

I just don't want to be overconfident about the tide turning, though.

4. * lost all his debates with Gore, whether you want to admit it or not.
Just cause CNN.coN told you otherwise, who ya gonna believe, CNN.coN or your lying eyes and ears???? Besides, * is an imbecile. He's obviously deteriorating mentally and emotionally. I don't know the causes but his decline is hideously apparent. I was completely optimistic before he "debated" Kerry last time, and I am equally confident today.

FYI, I think it is a joke, at best, to keep taling about what a skilled debater * is.

9. We saw the real Bush last Thursday
..ignorant, querulous, whiny, slumped over his podium. We've had glimpses of him like this before, as during the news conference where he timed out over the question of whether he had ever made a mistake. Ninety minutes is a long time for someone with basically nothing to say except for the few talking points his handlers have gotten him to memorize. The man is in way over his head and he knows it.

He's still tired, under enormous pressure and volatile. I don't think...

being prepared is what last Thursday's debate. Whether it's a cognitive or psychological disorder as some are suggesting, exhaustion or just vulnerability, all the preparation in the world did not ready him for last Thursday.

Tomorrow night, I doubt he'll be any more prepared than he was last week. I think his current (and permanent?) inability to think on his feet will get him again on Friday, unless they up his meds.

This is the prez that's given almost no press conferences in nearly four years, wouldn't testify before the 9/11 commission w/o Cheney, and whose campaign rallies are composed only of invitation-only, loyalty-oath-signing attendees. Rove can only help him when he can control all or most of the variables and, short of having paid off every audience member, there's little anyone can do to shore Bush up when he's out there without a net.

Wake up America! It is NOT okay to have an incompetent president!
