NYT's calls Bush's Same Old Sh't "Retooled," "Scathing Critique"
:wtf:

http://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/07/politics/campaign/07bush.html?hp

"My opponent is a tax-and-spend liberal; I'm a compassionate conservative," Mr. Bush said. "My opponent wants to empower government; I want to use government to empower people. My opponent seems to think all the wisdom is found in Washington, D.C.; I trust the wisdom of the American people."

But Mr. Bush was most intense in asserting that Mr. Kerry not only shifted with the winds on national security, but also held contradictory positions that would make it impossible for him to govern. That was a message that Mr. Bush had been primed to deliver in the first debate, but never really got across, some of his advisers have said.

His message came down to one basic point: that he would do a better job than Mr. Kerry of keeping the nation safe.

"In our debate, Senator Kerry said that removing Saddam Hussein was a mistake because the threat was not imminent," Mr. Bush said. "The problem with this approach is obvious: if America waits until a threat is at our doorstep, it might be too late to save lives. Tyrants and terrorists will not give us polite notice before they launch an attack on our country. I refuse to stand by while dangers gather."

1. OhNo not gathering of dangers!
I am so tired if this guy. He claimed this was to be a policy speech, but what is really was is a do over. I can imagine him jumping up and down like Rumpelstiltskin yelling do over, do over.

2. *yawn*
Somebody change his tape, this one's getting really boring and worn out. It wouldn't even make a shitty sitcom.

5. Does it ever bother his supporters...
...that he apparently can't HEAR right? That he ALWAYS seems to "re-interepret" reality through some fuzzy shit-spectacles? "I refuse to stand by while dangers gather." - well, mr. bush, I really hope the rest of the world doesn't have that attitude, because, pssst, EVERYONE hates us because of you, EVERYONE. and better than half this nation HATES YOU TOO!

6. He stood by...................
and "watched danger gather" prior to 9/11. What has he done since to indicate that he'd do anything different this time? He attacked a country with NO MWDs for nothing more than a personal vendetta, and let the REAL criminal responsible for 9/11 get away.

Blow me GW, you aren't getting another chance as far as I'm concerned.

7. "we would do a better do" slogan works better when not an INCUMBENT
when will the Media learn that * is not the challenger and as a record to defend.

His promises for the future are empty...unless we account for the four years of Media blindness.
