RNC Makes Anti-Tweety Ad
Edited on Thu Oct-07-04 03:51 AM by tishaLA
Now you'll understand very well why Tweety is back on his knees. His buddies at the RNC are mad at him for telling the truth...

Read the RNC take here and watch the video here

It's unbelievable to think they'd go so far out of their way to harass a silly little man like Tweety, but I guess they know now that all they have to do is crack their collective whips and Tweety will get back in line. After all, he is the ultimate purveyor of conventional wisdom.

edit: fixed link

1. That's fucking strange
Why should they care what tweety says? Are they nuts or just desperate or what? Don't they realize all they are doing is increasing his ratings and drawing attention to what he said? Are they really this stupid?

2. I personally believe they are doing it
so he will be in the tank for them the last few weeks of the campaign. They know Tweety loves power more than anything and that he will bend over to please whomever asks him to. He's probably already sucking on Rove's toes.

3. Innoculation.
If Matthews is a liberal trying to smear the honorable Dick Cheney, they all are, so Cheney's lies don't count. I doubt that ad will be seen anywhere but on the internet because of its length, but it's perfect grist for the Free Republic/Little Green Footballs type mills. They can continue wallowing in their self righteous anger over the "liberal" MSM.

I also think the Republicans are way back on their heels now and reacting. They have been on the receiving end of a torrent of shit in the past week. Lashing out at Matthews and his 500,000 viewers or whatever isn't going to accomplish much, but at least it's something.

I've never seen a campaign target a specific journalist with an ad before. Somebody might have pushed the panic button.

5. hopefully Matthews will see how ridiculous this is
Edited on Thu Oct-07-04 05:17 AM by JohnnyCougar
This is an idle threat. People will forget about this in a month except for the most fringe crackpot freepers. And no one cares what they think anyways.

Maybe Matthews will come firmly over to our side now.

In fact, I think now is a perfect time to send Tweety a bunch of e-mails telling him we sympathize with him and he has our back through this attack campaign. I could never have imagined anything like this actually happening. He was just doing his fucking job...and not the job of the RNC. If he gets enough support from us, he won't feel as pressured from the RNC.

6. Devious Tweety
Then again this could be a ruse to garner sympathy from Democrats. His brother was a delegate at the Republican convention, this piece of work was stupid enough to interview him.

8. Explains Tweety's Show Last Night
The RNC has become a terrorist organization. If last night's Tweety show is a result, Tweety has knuckled under. I have a strange feeling that we are in the twilight of a new kind of McCarthy era. If they do this to Tweety for just one GOP transgression, who is next?

9. Remember, this is the group that told Arkansans and W. Virginians
that "liberals" would "ban the Bible". Like I said in my LTTE, everyone knows that is a lie-so you've got to wonder what else they are lying about.

10. THIS is Desperation
These goons expected if they lead up 99% of the way, we'll figure that missing 1%. So Crashcart didn't exactly say Saddam is responsible for 9/11 or Saddam was affiliated with Al Queda...he says everything BUT those words, but there isn't much left to the listener afterwards where to draw the conclusions Crashcart and his henchmen want you to believe.

They want it both ways. They want the sheeple and scared to fear and believe there's terrorist everywhere and it's only Bunnypants who can save them...then there's the CYA side that knows if they actually say what they mean, this is like having Willie Sutton explain how he robbed a bank...and not only would speaking the truth cost these assholes the election, but could open them up to all sorts of prosecution from international courts and law suits. Protecting us? More like covering their asses.

Thus they have to destroy any and all who get in their way of the BIG lie...Iraq/Saddam/War...and to confuse the issue even further.

Who knows how Tweety will take this...and I don't care, as the genie's out of the bottle now. Any gaffe Bunnypants makes now will just paint him as being a bigger idiot, and Crashcart is on the verge of being painted as the liar the bastard is. If you were facing this scenario, wouldn't you be lashing out???

12. Chris Matthews ought to have the courage of his convictions.
A life filled with honesty and truth may be a lonely life ... (historical figures like Socrates and Jesus Christ would know a lot about that) ... but it is a rewarding life... yet, there are some who get sidetracked by the noise of run of the mill seagulls scavenging for food. Tweety may be one of those.

14. I disagree....this will backfire.......BIGTIME
Tweety might be a whore for somethings, but even a whore draws the line at some point.

Remember when the RNC put up an ad that used tape from Tweety's show? They cut up am interview between Tweety and Kerry and short sheeted Kerry's answer. Tweety went on the attack over it. Called it out and showed the full clip of that portion of the interview and then when hammer and tongs with the Repugs who showed up on his show. This went on for several days and was the source for many hopeful comments for DU members.

Wait and watch, I'm willing to bet that Tweety comes after them for this piece of schiess. And the timing of this is VERY bad. Tweety will not be to disposed to give Bush a break on Friday night's debate.
Nope this was a "shot in the foot" by the RNC, but just how bad the wound is we will have to wait until either tonight or tomorrow to find out.

And another point. Journalists do not like being either attacked or used in this manner. This could also resonate with other talking heads and make them sit up and take notice of the depths that the RNC will stoop to.

15. He folded the last time they threatned him
after the Malkin thing. The GOP let it be known that they would encourage all Republicans to boycott his show and he took them seriously. From that point on, they knew that all they had to do was to threaten him and he'd fold. Voila, they produce this little video and then the freepers begin to attack him, and he's back in their corner again. The odd thing about all of this is that he was the ONLY cable pundit who declared a victory for Deadeye Dick after the debate and who most persistently whored for him, although he did jump on the one issues that the GOP targeted for this ad-about Cheney's claim about the links to 9/11 and Saddam. I guess he's not supposed to criticize them at all and they were miffed that he had. So they've yanked his leash.

The bright spot of all of this is that he's now successfully pissed off both of the political spectrum which will hopefully mean that his ratings begin to go down and then maybe all of his dreams will come true and Faux will hire him. I swear his show is nothing but one long audition for Faux anyway.
