PLEASE not Dean Flaming! I only want info on his son
There was some incident last winter about Dean's son breaking into a house. I remember it caused the governor to skip some early appearance to rush home and deal with it. Someone at work asked me about it, think I'm the big political expert, but I had to just shrug and say I didn't know. I said that if I had to guess, I'd think it was just some teenage goofiness, playing a prank or sneaking over to a girlfriend's house.

But what was the story there? If Dean's nominated, shouldn't we have a pat, logical response to deal with this once they start Roving on this issue? I know it's probably nothing bigger than Jenna's fake ID, but on the surface it sounds worse.

By they by, people, I'm interested in facts only here. Save your "Dean's a negligent dad of a juvenile deliquent" and "This thread is a stealth character attack on a great man" crap for another thread, pretty please.

5. Is this different from the getaway driver incident.
This sounds different from his role as a getaway driver in an armed robbery of a 7-11/deli type place. Or maybe that is this. The one I am talking about happened the day before he announced.

8. Same thing. Paul was the getaway driver at a country club.
I don't think there was a 7/11 incident. Or armed robbery.

6. Howard Dean's Son, Friends Avoid Jail
Paul Dean Enters Court Diversion Program For Burglary

Howard Dean's son, Paul Dean, 17, made his way into the courthouse in Burlington Tuesday with his high-profile father and mother by his side. Paul Dean is charged with helping four of his friends break into the Burlington Country Club to steal booze and food.

Paul Dean and his parents were only in the courthouse for about 45 minutes. They never set foot inside a courtroom and quite possibly never will. In lieu of a formal arraignment, Paul Dean and his four friends will enter a court diversion program.

It's been nearly two months since Paul Dean was charged with accessory to burglary, a felony that could carry jail time. Police said the teen waited in the getaway car June 20 while four of his friends broke into a walk-in cooler at the Burlington Country Club to steal food and liquor. Police said the burglary had been planned for at least a week.

The four other teens are all charged with burglary and also will enter the diversion court program. The crimes will go on their records, but under the diversion program, after two years, they can file motions to have their criminal records erased.

13. Get over it. If you think they are similar
you have that right. But you are being very myopic.

Just like Nader when he said there was no difference between the Dems and Reps.

7. Paul Dean drove a getaway car as his friends broke into a country club
to steal booze. He later received community service (I think) in a special program for first-time young offenders, as did his friends.
Gov. Dean didn't try to get him out of punishment. Paul went to court like everyone else. (He also was very likely grounded.)

Dean's press release was along the lines of, "My kid's an idiot. Please make sure he doesn't get treated differently in court. Give my family our privacy."

There were arguments on this forum and elsewhere that the light sentence would not have been made available if the offenders were black, poor or not related to Gov. Dean, but there's really no way of knowing beyond speculation. This program is available to everyone in the state, and is used often.

10. This stuff is
irrevelant...as much as I despise Dean as a candidate I don't agree with the vetting of his family. We all know that sometimes, no matter how good our parenting skills...some kids get in trouble. Let it go..not appropriate...no integrity.
