I Don't Trust Charlie-Boy in Friday Night's Debate
(Gibbon, Gibson??) If Bush is going to get back into this thing, it is going to be the debate on Friday because Kerry has two opponents on the stage. One is the nitwit who is easily disposed of. The other is getting his orders and script directly from Rove. Remember Kerry (off mike) saying exactly that when this pig interviewed him on his morning show???

Just saw Doris Kearns (presidential historian) show a clip of Dukakis being given the "death penalty" question. She pointed out that he was leading well going into that debate but how ONE question can sink a guy. Charlie and Rove, depend on it, are working on that 'one' question. This will be a townhall meeting, but watch Charlie try to "clarify" some question with putting the boots directly to Kerry. Charlie will also be explaining away and smoothing over all the stupid remarks and ineptness of Bush. Can you figure out any "area" where Kerry can be trapped??---I don't think Iraq war votes, etc. would do it because people know all that by heart. I'm trying to figure out what subject to watch for and how Kerry can diffuse it.

1. No doubt that Gibson will be trying to trip Kerry
You should have seen the ear to ear grin on the Puke on Inside Politics yesterday while talking about how fair he expected Gibson would be.

2. As someone that grew up in Massachusetts and lived there most of my life
as well as being deeply involved in politics, I can assure you John Kerry is no Dukakis. He's a far better politician and will easily be able to answer any question they throw at him with grace and dignity.

3. This time around there is no "one question". Kerry seems to be able
to clarify himself quite well. I was convinced. :hi:

5. Oh, there IS a killer question. . .
but I think Kerry has anticipated it for awhile and has an answer ready (he better). Namely why he voted against the first Iraqi war, especially since he now uses it as a model for how we should have gone in this time.

7. eileen--that is the one that crossed my mind because the little nitwit
has brought this up in his major "mulligan" speech. I expect Bush to raise it. But should the little nitwit forget, I expect Charlie to go for "clarification". Other than that there isn't much. Charlie may try to smear as much "liberal" on Kerry and make out that he's a bedmate of Kennedy's, etc. Anyway, Kerry also has the great ammo now of Bremmer's remarks, the WMD report, Rummy's mouth, etc. and those are far greater than most any of this.

Cocoa--this was like right after Kerry was known to have won the
primaries or some such event. Anyway, Charlie was interviewing him from his morning show and Kerry was on the campaign trail somewhere. Charlie was horrid, insulting, obnoxious, animalistic in his approach to Kerry. At the end, Kerry was taking off his mike and thought he was off camera and he remarked that Charlie was reading his questions straight from the Rove republican talking points sent to him, etc. It was played on a few news broadcasts later.

8. If Gibson makes himself the center of the debate....
I hope Kerry and he should, set him straight. Gibson is just a TV pretty girly man. I am so totally oppose to those girly-pretty-girls-plastic head so called journalists doing the questioning. I'd like to have historians and smart people...for God's sake.
