6. Now citing yesterday's report
the report concluded that inspections and sanctions worked and prevented Saddam from resuming his weapons program. Remember the facts and the truth - the primary justification for going to war was to disarm Saddam AFTER exhausting all other options.

16. Really blasted Condi for blaming the military commanders...
for not having enough troops. Kerry says the WH used to be a place that had a sign saying "the buck stops here"... went on the say the responsibility is with the C in C.

Talked about the Duelfer report and says "the President in now in full spin mode.... my friends you don't manufacture reasons for going to war AFTE you go to war."

Kerry is blasting away.... "pattern of deception".

Now talking about the lies about reading scores.

who cut to the Kerry statement? I think it was Miles O'Brien.

Stentorian?

Since when is it ok for a news anchor to poke fun at a candidiate's speaking style? If he was just feeding off of Begala and Carlson, fine. But he did it a couple more times after that!

Not the word I would have chosen. Without knowing the definition (myself included) it sounds very negative.

60. shoot. if i don't know what stentorian means
that means a good 85% of america doesn't.

i remember trying to read Dianetics once.

in that first chapter L. Ron Hubbard basically said, if you're reading, and you come across a word that you don't know the meaning off, you wind up not comprehending everything beyond that word, because your brain is still trying to figure the word out.

Hopefully that works for talking newsheads too.

it made me nervous. As an old Art Director I get antsy about our campaigns lack of attention to detail. It's so easy for a toppled mic, for instance, to become the story. Colorado is indeed lovely, but I would have been happier to see it through a large picture window.

because Kerry had said Saddam was a threat. The reporter tried to make hay of the "fictionalized" remark.

Fact: he was a threat.
Fiction: he was a huge, imminent thread superceding all other threats to such an extent we needed to invade immediately, without a plan, without allies, without a clue that the WMDs weren't there.

Edited on Thu Oct-07-04 02:03 PM by Jersey Devil
He said that yes, Saddam was a "threat", but that there are other ways to deal with threats and different types of threats. At one point he said, Russia and China and about 35 other countries with nuke capabilities were "threats", but "we didn't invade them, did we?"

He was on fire.

... refuting this LAME talking point.

I am starting to think Kerry is a "good closer' because he has good timing. He knows when to pull out the "big guns", the necessary (if easy) refutations of his opponents' accusations. If he addressed such charges too early, it would leave them more time to shift tactics, smear more, and come up with something that sticks.

Kerry: Bush, Cheney in Denial About Iraq

By NEDRA PICKLER
Associated Press Writer

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) -- Democratic Sen. John Kerry said Thursday that President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney have failed to recognize a deteriorating situation in post-war Iraq and "may well be the last two people on the planet who won't face the truth."

In his strongest statement yet, the Democratic presidential nominee suggested that if Bush fails to recognize the severity of problems in Iraq, then if Kerry takes office in January he will face a situation as chaotic as the Middle East in the early 1980s.

"If the president just does more of the same every day and it continues to deteriorate, I may be handed Lebanon, figuratively speaking," Kerry told reporters at a brief news conference.

...

"My fellow Americans, you don't make up or find reasons to go to war after the fact," Kerry said.

Quite a lot in between (covered by the ellipses, I mean)

65. Bush and Cheney in denial - that sounds familiar, where else did we hear
that today? David Kay

"Bush administration in denial about lack of Iraq WMD: Kay

The White House has insisted Saddam was a threat to the United States and had weapons of mass destruction capability, but Kay told NBC television: "All I can say is 'denial' is not just a river in Egypt."
