Our Domestic Enemies-Bush/Cheney-must be arrested and tried for sedition.
Edited on Thu Oct-07-04 02:15 PM by Cyrano
Every member of our military, the CIA, the FBI, and all of our other intelligence services take an oath to "...protect and defend the constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic."

George Bush and Dick Cheney are bigger threats to our democracy than Osama Bin Laden ever dreamed of being.

They have shredded the Geneva Conventions and citizen's rights to council.

They have taken the country into an unprovoked war based on lies that they knew to be lies when they recited them. (Yeah, I know, "plausible deniability," but explain that on Sept. 12, 2001, they were already planning to attack Iraq).

They have caused the deaths of over 1000 American troops (and countless Iraqi civilians) based on transparent lies. And there's no end in sight.

They have demolished the right of citizens to speak up against their government with the introduction of "free speech zones." One would have to be the stupidest son-of-a-bitch ever born to not see through this fascist piece of censorship shit. And there's so much more for which there's no room here.

These thugs are DOMESTIC ENEMIES. So if they win/steal it again, what the hell do we do?

1. Free Speech Zones pre-date the Bush Administration
Organizations on both sides of the political spectrum are trying to subdue opposing points of view any way they can.

It's just when the right wing does it, people die.

2. You won't like this answer
But the most likely answer is that we complain about it for another four years, do our best to get the truth out about Bush and his thugs and then try again in 2008.

I'd rather win it now, really.

3. Complain for four more years? What makes you think that if they win,
there will ever be another election in this country in our life times?

11. Faith, I suppose
I mean if they could really call off the election in 4 years, why not call off this one?

12. What makes you think they won't? Code red, martial law, no election.

14. Hmmmmm
I guess you are right. We should just all give up, and plan for revolution. Why bother with get out the vote drives and talking to our neighbors abuot John Kerry? Just give up, secure in the knowledge there will be no elections.

4. I can't stand behind all your statements...
George Bush and Dick Cheney are bigger threats to our democracy than Osama Bin Laden ever dreamed of being.

These thugs are DOMESTIC ENEMIES. So if they win/steal it again, what the hell do we do?

I think this kind of talk just gives fodder to our political enemies.

7. Do you really think these thugs need any more fodder?
My comments regarding Bush/Cheney/Bin Laden are based on the fact that this administration has done virtually nothing to protect us from additional foreign terrorism.

Of course Bin Laden is a threat. But the bigger threat is those who are telling you they're protecting you and aren't.

8. Now you're taking your comments deeper....

I understand, and agree. Bush is a greater threat in that sense...but that's a nuance of what you originally state.

The soundbite of "Bush is a greater threat than Bin Laden" doesn't play well with the electorate.

10. Thanks
I can tell you're passionate, and that's a good thing.

I'm always the diplomat in public....maybe too much so! I like appealing to the largest number of people.

History will out Bush eventually.

13. When Walsh was getting close to getting at some of them............
The corporate media is has a lot of the same stakes at keeping things quiet. They profiles depend on them keeping things like they are, keeping the public in check with one hand, while slapping them around with the other

Iran-Contra: Sweep It Away

Most of the major media reacted to George Bush's last-minute pardon of leading Iran-Contra figures with less than outrage. The conventional wisdom in media circles for years has been that the scandal is old news and it should just go away. Robert MacNeil of the MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour (12/24/92) spoke for many in the media when he asked Tom Blanton of the National Security Archive, "Mr. Blanton, why does this issue remain important? Clearly, the public is bored with it. The polls all show that years ago they stopped being interested in it. Why not, as Mr. Bush describes in his pardon statement, why not bring in the healing power of the pardon and sweep it away and sweep the bitterness away?"

Blanton pointed out that what polls actually show is that most voters did not believe that Bush was telling the truth about Iran-Contra, and that this was a factor in Bush's electoral defeat. MacNeil then turned to his other guest, Richard Perle, a former assistant to pardon-recipient Caspar Weinberger, and demonstrated what he considers asking tough questions of both sides: "Mr. Perle, I believe you would sympathize with the president and his desire to sweep the bitterness away with the pardon?"
