My stockbroker's voting for Kerry! First time Democratic voter! |
|
Today my stockbroker called me to discuss some changes to my portfolio. After we'd finished talking business, we did our usual social chatty stuff, and he said, "What did you think of the Bush-Kerry debate?"
Now, I know this guy, and through the years, we've had "friendly" disagreements about politics and tax cuts for the rich. He, being a Republican, is always for tax cuts, naturally. Since I know his stance, I thought I'd keep it unemotional and just said, "I think Bush didn't look so good."
"Didn't look good?" my broker says. "He was an embarrassment! He's a moron!"
This from a dyed-in-the-wool country club Republican who, until a year ago, was still complaining about Clinton!
I said, shocked: "You sound like you're turning into a Democrat."
He said: "This November, I'm voting for the Democrat for the first time in my life."
That's it. Bush has lost the country clubbers.

...a rock-ribbed Republican (albeit of the "fiscal responsibility" old school) is voting Kerry this year. "It's a simple question of competence," he told me.
