So saith the CNBC Entertainment Business Report polluting my West Wing episode on Bravo.

Edit to correct erroneous orders of magnitude.

You just saw the very same clip I did. Nicely cool clip I might add.

I loved Sam getting his ass kicked. I don't care if it was a woman. :)

200 million X 20= that would be 4 billion in sales in 1 day. It's a good movie and will make a lot of money, but not that much money.

Edited on Thu Oct-07-04 06:29 PM by GiovanniC
Want to nail Moore on election laws saying he is offering underwear and ramen noodles for college students promising to vote, and that violates state election laws which say essentially that nothing of valuable consideration can be exchanged for even a promise to vote.

EDIT: That begs a question. What is a valuable consideration? What if I give someone a free ride to their polling place, rather than them paying for a cab fare? Is that a valuable consideration in exchange for a vote? Am I violating campaign laws? What about the stickers that they give me when I vote? Is that okay because it's after the fact? Because they're so inexpensive? Or are they violating the law, too? What if poll workers bake cookies for voters? Is that against the law, also?

33. Link: 1.4 million sales to rental stores
http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=entertainmentNews&storyID=6433900

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Michael Moore's politically charged documentary "Fahrenheit 9/11" sold about 2 million combined DVD and VHS units Tuesday (Oct. 5), its first day in release, according to industry sources.

That Day 1 sales figure and projected Week 1 sales of 3 million combined units set the benchmark as the most successful documentary ever released on home video.

While initial home video sales figures for "Fahrenheit" were expected to break records -- considering its $119 million domestic boxoffice take -- industry observers are watching closely to see how the title will sell and rent over time.

Of the units sold Tuesday, about 1.4 million were sold to rental stores, sources said.

44. Got mine from dreaded Wal-Mart
I don't shop there too often, but wifey and I are both out of work (in this "wonderful" economy) and I knew Wal-Mart would have some kind of special. They did. It was $14.99

They had a fair amount of copies, but it was flying off the shelves. The lady at the check-out counter gave us a funny look. I get an extra dose of pleasure buying Michael Moore products from Wal-Mart (I bought two of his books there, too). You know they HATE everything he stands for, yet they can't pass up the chance to make money off of him.

47. I bought and rented today
Bought the DVD for our collection, and rented one for watching in the VCR in the bedroom upstairs tonight (my wife's recovering from C-Section - and can't climb stairs yet).

The checkout kid asked: "Are you sure you want to both rent and buy the same movie?"

I told him: "Yeah, why not? It's for a good cause, you know."

He was speechless. But I caught a wry smile and twinkle in his eye.
