Question about Police Organization |
|
California Organization of Police and Sheriffs are always calling my house for money. I checked their website and it says in their statement that "COPS provides legislative advocacy, political action" etc. When I clicked the corresponding pages, they were under construction.
Does anyone out there know if these people supported Bush or Arnold or any other heinous politicians and/or legislation? I like to know who I'm giving my money to and if they are big GOP supporters or something, I'll be telling them not to call back.
Thanks for any info anyone has.

I just tell them that I don't give money to organizations that do not have a 501(C)(3) nonprofit status and they voluntarily go away.

3. They're an advocacy organization |
|
If you feel right giving to the law-enforcement officer version of a union (501C(5) labor organization), they seem legit enough.
If you think it will result directly in more officers on the street, or money for squad cars or training -- that's not their line of business.
Just so you know.
Us, we accept no telephone solicitations whatsoever. As soon as I even suspect someone on the other end wants to sell me something or ask me for donations for whatever cause, I say simply, "We never give money or buy anything from unsolicited phone calls. Please remove us from your list, and do not give our name or number to any third parties. Thank you and goodbye." Then I hang up.
We hardly ever get those calls anymore.

4. It did say something about being a "labor advocate" |
|
or something of the sort. That doesn't bother me. It's the political stuff they mentioned that spooks me.
