What's with Arnold and the 405 Freeway

I saw a headline in a paper in Culver City that said something like,"Arnold won't fix the problem on the 405 freeway."

There was a bpicture of the freeway with its usual traffic jam.

What did the fool do this time?

1. Funny, I used to see him on the 405 all the time in the 80s and 90s.
Driving his military style Humvee (they were rare back then) and smoking big fat cigars.

If anyone knows the problems, he should. If he doesn't want the problems fixed, then he's an inconsiderate jerk.

2. I swear I'm NOT taking up for Arnold but....
(I protested against the recall, I went to meetings to keep the recall from happening, etc.) there's no way I'm going to blame Arnold for the 405. IMHO, NO ONE could make the freeway issues (to me it's just part of living in a big city)go away in L.A. To me, it's just part of living in a hugh city with 1/6th of the population of the whole country (as least I think that's the case).

It absolutely had his name attached in a negative way.

3. The ONLY way the so-called 405 problem....
will ever be fixed is when it completely stops moving and people realize they have to get out of there cars...and hopefully by that time Villaraigosa's plans for more mass transit will help them do that.

They are already extending the Metro Red Line from North Hollywood to Warner Center, a Gold Line extension southeast to El Monte and there is talk of a short line from downtown to Echo Park with a spur to Dodger Stadium. Now THAT would be progress.

4. That sounds like a good start

I have friends that live in Brentwood. They say that they literally can not get to the airport on some evenings. The traffic will not move off of Sunset in any direction.
Doesn't Arnold live in Brentwood?
Maybe he takes his helicopter to get out.
