Feeling a little guilty today
I had a freak accident on Monday night while grappling in MMA class and ended up needing stitches in my left big toe. I have to very careful not to walk long distances or put too much weight on it, which can be very frustrating! There was a progressive event today that I had planned on attending that I ended up not going to mainly because of this injury. I feel really bad about missing it, because it was a fundraising event for Jim Brandt, a really good progressive candidate that I have met before and sometimes see at Meetups. I will be making an online donation instead, but I wish I could have been there!

1. Don't feel guilty
Toe injuries have ended some NFL careers.
Ask Jack Lambert!

Your heart was in the right place that's all that counts!

2. You shouldn't feel guilty.
Right now you have to do what you have to do to take care of yourself. Your heart's in the right place, and you'll be there in the future when you can make it.

For now, use this time to do some nice things for yourself.

So many people didn't go today just because they don't care. You had a legitimate excuse. Cut yourself a break...

3. Did you cut it on the mat?
Saw a guy cut his big toe quite badly on the mat during a judo tournament once. I was wondering if perhaps it was not as freak of an accident as I had thought.

4. It curled up under me
as I was switching positions, and I accidentally put a lot of weight on it. I didn't realize I had injured myself and kept grappling for a while until the buzzer rang. I looked down at my toe and the nail was covered in blood! I was gushing lots of blood for a while. The mat looked like a crime scene! There wasn't much pain, but there was a ton of blood and a pretty big gaping wound next to the cuticle. I'll be getting my stitches out in about a week.
