Calling San Diegeans! Whose our mayor now?
Does anyone have any idea who the mayor will now be until the new one is elected either on July 27th or the runoff in Nov.?

1. I wonder if some are hoping that Donna gets a 50% majority

next week so that it becomes a non-issue... For a couple of voters concerned about money being spent on elections, I tell them that if most of us vote for Donna, that's the best chance we have at avoiding the cost of another election (an added benefit!).

I'm guessing the council is tabling any kind of decision until they see the results of the election next week. I guess technically Zuchett may still be in charge until sentencing happens (at least that's the way his lawyers interpret it). So maybe they can put up with him in charge for a week, don't know.

2. Answer from this morning's fishwrap...
Council member Toni Atkins (one of the two remaining/surviving Democrats on the council), at least for the next few days.

...About 2½ hours after the verdicts started being read in federal court yesterday, the six remaining members of the City Council made Toni Atkins mayor pro tem, a new position, so she could preside over council meetings yesterday and today....

I hope this link works:
