Regarding the Town Hall Meeting in Oakland today.....

Sorry posters - hadn't eaten yet and went to make a sandwich.

Jeez - where to begin.

It was at the Grand Lake Theater in Oakland. 11:00AM-1:00PM - they went a half-hour over the limit. It was Standing Room Only - every seat in the theater was filled.

I wish I could remember names - but I'll try to give you a synopsis.
One of the fellows was there who founded "Afterdowningstreet.org" - not John Bonifaz, someone else. Mimi Kennedy (actress) was there.
Medea Benjamin from Code Pink put in an appearance. As I mentioned, Daniel Ellsberg, Congresswoman Barbara Lee, one of the fathers who had lost his son in Iraq (who was at the meeting that Congressman Conyers held in the basement a month ago) was there as well as an ex-serviceman who had been a JAG who also served in Iraq.

It was amazing.
We have to help Congresswoman Lee with support for her Resolution of Inquiry that she is introducing in the House. Hopefully it will help to bring about hearings to have people under oath testify regarding the reasons we went to war in Iraq (Downing Street Memo, etc.).
She said there will be more hearings in September in the House (perhaps again in the basement). They are not going to let this drop.

I'm sure I'm forgetting much - it was so overwhelming.


OH - Channel 4 was there. I had placed a call to 3 different TV stations on Thursday to see if any were going to attend. Channel 4 was one of them. Don't know if it was my call or not - but I was so happy to see local media there. Isabell Duron was up front with the cameraman.
Watch the Channel 4 news tonite - we'll see what made it on, if anything.
