city of riverside defecates on property owners :-(
Edited on Sat Jul-23-05 10:18 PM by msongs
we own a house/property. the city has trees on the easement which dump tens of thousands of seeds on the easement and our clear property. thousands of these seeds sprout every year and we have to scrape/dig them up. they sprount on the bare dirt, in the lawns and flower beds, in the rain gutters, in concrete cracks and even in between roof shingles.

we have asked the city of riverside to trim the tree it owns before it dumps all those seeds and the city refuses to do so. the city says it owns the trees and we cannot get rid of them. the city says it will not be responsible for the defecation and that we have to do it ourselves and pay for it ourselves or live with the mess. then the city can cite us for not cleaning up its tree mess on the easement portion of the property!!

the mayor wrote us a condescending letter telling us how the city was known as the city of trees and that we should be glad to live here and we could hire and pay for tree trimming ourselves if we did not like the way the city does it.

our neighborhood association is gonna try and get rid of this mayor and our city councilman this fall.

meanwhile the city government is busy pleasing the downtown business persons association and the chamber of commerce, which is a right wing republican organization for the most part.

so city to property owners: go to hell.

1. Did you know that there are more trees and plants on the
North American Continental than ever before in its whole entire history. To bad the Amazon Basin is being Continent of dirt and only dirt. I sure these useless facts do not help you.

The City must have planted Pepper Trees along the streets and they are a nuisance, but hey, if the City Government is also nuisance get rid of them also. You also might want to try a proposition in the upcoming election kill two birds with one stone.

2. If the city wants lots of trees, well, that's great but they can plant
that don't creat a mess every year. I have had some seeds sprout on my roof before and, believe me, they will keep growing. Several people should let them grow on their roofs and get together and sue the city for the roof repair. The law says that if a tree on your neighbors property harms your property, they must repair your property and keep the tree from harming your property again .. even to cutting the tree down. OR, next Arbor Day get a movement going to plant trees that don't mess things up next to the towns trees .... let them take you to court for planting trees without a permit and let them make fools of themselves on national television .... call the media to make sure it is covered. Get the environmental clubs and groups involved. If they charge you for planting trees they look stupid and if they don't, them as they grow, some of the trees will have to be culled..... the messy ones.
