Diesel Fuel Prices Hit Record High (I just paid $2.99 a gallon!)
A fire July 20 in part of Chevron Corp.'s El Segundo refinery forced the company to cut back production while it repaired the crude oil unit, Kloza said. Taking advantage of the unplanned downtime, Chevron said Wednesday it opted to conduct routine maintenance on another of the plant's units.

"The refinery problem that Chevron had was very specific to diesel," Kloza said. "You're going to set some more records in the next couple days for sure."

Chevron's Rod Spackman said the crude unit outage in El Segundo "has taken some diesel production out of the market." He would not quantify the production loss, but said repairs to the damaged unit would take another week and a half.

3. Gotta keep those 45mpg, super efficient diesel engines off the street
I have no proof, but wouldn't doubt for a second that these shutdowns are BS market manipulation.

they're holding out on us?

Hmmm, let's see: oil is going up every day. I see the new, unprecedented high is $62.00/barrel.

Iraq is just trickling out oil. No new refineries are being built. Saudi Arabia could start a dangerous decline in the Ghawar oil field. Refineries seemingly hit with many fires.

Give it some more time = prices go up even more.

Why give it to 'em now? Just wait! It's called monopoly, or oligopoly.

Or how about Oilopoly.

7. YIKES!
Diesel here in the midwest was $2.46 yesterday. Yes, buy a diesel dear. The engine lasts forever but the fuel prices are so much lower than regular gas. You will never be sorry. :eyes:

9. biodiesel
Soon recycled frier oil biodiesel will cost the same as petroleum diesel. You might as well buy it now if you can afford the difference. The 70% cleaner makes the driver feel good. I buy it at Yokayo Biofuels.

11. bio
Yokayo is in Ukiah, but people all over are producing biodiesel from waste restaurant grease. It is also produced on a larger scale from soybeans. I am running my 2004 VW Golf on 100% biodiesel: no war required.
