Hey Loretta: A few years back, Rep. Loretta Sanchez, D-Garden Grove (Orange County), made news when she planned a fund-raiser at the Playboy mansion -- now we hear she may have eyes on another mansion of sorts.

The governor's house.

Sanchez -- in town this past week for a number of events -- was spotted having lunch at the Washington Square Bar and Grill with a table full of police and fire union leaders -- and from what we hear, the talk was very much about her running for governor against Arnold Schwarzenegger next year.

"She's definitely putting the feelers out,'' said one union leader who was at the table.

One problem: The timing of the governor's race would mean Sanchez giving up her congressional seat.

"So it would have to look real good for her to make the jump,'' our union spy said.

We called Sanchez's office for comment. They said she was too busy with events to call back.

I can't see this happening--Angelides has too much support including an early endorsement from Sanchez

6. A little history about Loretta Sanchez
Loretta Sanchez beat Bob Dornan in a Republican Safe Seat in 1996. Much to the relieve of much of us here in Orange County. The reason for him being beat was because 1) Bob Dornan was an idiot (I do not use that term lightly) with zealot ideas not in the publics best interest, and 2) Orange County had a major funding problem considering the area was recovering a financial meltdown. The election was fairly close (difference of 984 votes) and was contested by Bob Dornan, which he lost.

Loretta Sanchez started her political career as a liberal Republican then change parties and called herself a moderate Democrat. She also changed her last name back from Brixey to Sanchez and said she was a business woman. She is a member of the DLC but she does vote liberal for the most part.

Personally, I prefer another candidate for the other than Loretta Sanchez.

Side note: Loretta Sanchez sister Linda Sanchez is also in the House of Representatives.

5. The race is Angelides' to lose
he's built up a great base of support so far and I can't see anyone waltzing in and beating him even though the primary is a nearly a year away
