1. I believe if someone started organizing this - YES!
I have no doubt about it....I know that everyone who was dissatisfied w/ Gray Davis is more so about Ahnuld and wishes they had voted differently. I know every nurse, teacher, parent and now every gay person or person who supports gay rights would all sign a petition for a recall.

Oh yeah...add every single working class person in the state or person making min wage who figured out that the minimum wage increase that was vetoed by Ahnuld far exceeded in value than the car tax refund they got and voted for him for.....

I'll be happy to be the first person to sign and go get signatures....

2. The time to have done this has past I'm afraid...
We should have gotten this in place earlier. The deadline has passed to have anything like this on the November ballot. What other election can we use to have this recall vote on before 2006? Well that would be the primary election in March. Now think of the problems associated with having a gubernatorial recall election on the same ballot as you are having a primary vote for governor for 2006. It makes things rather tricky.

First of all, you have the candidates themselves campaigning both for getting nominated by their party for 2006, and campaigning to win the recall election, which makes it hard for them to campaign, as you have two different sets of voters you are trying to address.

Secondly, what happens if the Dem that might win the recall election isn't the same person that is nominated for the 2006 election? There are similar questions on the Republican side of the fence too.

Just think that the added expense and confusion that would be added by having a recall election in March would make it more trouble than it's worth, and might lose the Dems some votes in the process for pushing this election through too. Better thing to do is to make sure that ALL of Arnold's ballot measures lose in November. That in effect is a judgement that his "special election" was a complete waste of money and time, at a time when our state government doesn't need such waste of money and resources.

Our energy should also be focused on how to deal with the nomination for Diane Feinstein's seat too. She's gotten a free pass way too many times. I'd really like to see someone else put a lot of pressure on her in the primaries to be answerable to her constuency instead of her getting a blank check to take to the Senate again where ehse serves corporations and the DLC more than she serves us.

3. Don't waste the time and effort
He's up for re-election next year. A re-call could only be on the June 2006 ballot.

6. The time for a recall election would be after the 2006 election...
Hopefully we won't need to have one. But if voting machines are hijacked sufficiently to give Arnold or some other Rethug the office, then a recall election would be something to try then., much like the Rethugs did a recall shortly after Davis won. Up until the 2006 election, everything should be done to help someone like Angelides or whoever wins the primary to win, kill the redistricting measure, and demand that we be ensured that our voting mechanisms integrity isn't compromised.

5. It's better politically to wait until Nov 2006
He might have some reverse coat-tails, and we can attack him for the recall election.
