I posted a while ago about moving to Sacramento....
My girlfriend recently took a job down in Sacramento, I just back from visiting her and am ready to move down there. I have been applying for jobs the last couple of weeks but am not getting a lot of responses. I wanted to post on DU just in case someone knows of positions or companies I should contact.

I have BS in electrical engineering with 1+ years of sales engineer experience. I would like to stick with the sales engineering or go into the Power industry.

I have contacted the bigger companies but this is always done through websites and I do not know how much exposure I get. I would like to work for a small company (less then 50 employees). If anyone knows of any companies please let me know.

Again thank you for all your great comments from before and I am looking forward to moving back to the West Coast.

2. Kaiser Permanente
Edited on Mon Sep-26-05 03:00 PM by wryter2000
Kaiser is a wonderful company, and they have multiple clinics/hospitals in the Sacto area. They have jobs for all kinds of professions, not just health care professionals. They even hire gardeners, writers, and actors.

The on-line jobs information isn't very good, sadly. Call up a recruitment office at the main Kaiser in Sacramento and ask them about how to research jobs. If they aren't helpful, try to find someone who is an employee...hey, waitaminute...I'm an employee :). PM me, and I'll check on positions when I get back to work on Wednesday.

I can't say enough good about this company. They're non-profit and honestly interested in keeping people healthy. They have great benefits, including traditional pension and 401k. Plus, they're big enough that if you end up with a stinker boss, you can transfer to another department.

Okay, on edit: I obviously didn't read your post too closely :), but I still say KP is great. I've been there 13 years and am sticking around until I retire.

8. Link to UCD site

I highly recommend their workshops if you think you may want to apply for a job at UCD. It really helps with the nuances of completing their applications.

Best of luck to you and welcome to the area! I moved here seven years ago from Kentucky and I just love it! I'm actually looking for a job myself right now.

Peace...

4. Jobs.
Check the Sac Bee, Monster.com, USAJOBS.com, the state of California's website, and check out craig's list. Those are your best options.
