Ventura County Dems?
Anybody attend tonight's "emergency meeting" of the Central Committee?

Love to hear what went down with the Brett Wagner dust-up.

Thanks.

1. I wasn't there
But I heard they want Wagner to drop out of the race. I have learned no other details so far.

2. Do they?
I didn't know the Central Committee wanted him out too. I know the folks who signed the letter were from the Assembly District Committee, Clubs, etc.

I have to say, I completely agree that he should drop out - but not because I know anything about the charges that have been made. I do know that he really isn't a viable candidate and that he made remarks about his polling numbers in 2004 that must have been untrue. I feel very sorry for him. Whatever the facts are, it must be terrifying and humiliating to go through what he is facing right now.

Brett Wagner Claims He Was Attacked Because He's Gay
Ventura County Democrats are on damage control this morning. The Democratic Central Committee called a special meeting to resolve a growing rift with one of it's own.
Some members of the Democratic Party alleged Brett Wagner, a top congressional candidate in 2004, exaggerated on his resume, and took part in financial irregularities stemming from campaign donations.
However, Wagner denies the charges and says some of the people attacking him are doing so because he is gay.

4. Holy Crap
Again, I feel awful for Brett that this is happening. But I CANNOT believe that it is about sexual orientation. Some of these folks even donated to him in the 2004 race!!

This is about more important things - the things that have to do with a person's ability to represent other citizens and to lead. I can't speak for the folks that signed the letter asking him to step aside, but Brett saying this is about being gay strikes me as a total act of desperation. He is now dragging the whole local party into the mud with this.

If I find out his sexual orientation had any part in this, I will be astonished.

5. I don't believe Wagner's accusations either
I do think we need a viable candidate against Gallegly, because he is by all means beatable and Brett Wagner just isn't it. He's lashing out at the party and that's not fair.
