1. We'll get the chance to terminate his term. . . |
|
in another twelve months. Better now to devote our efforts to defeating his initiatives and marginalizing his impact -- that'll do far more towards getting rid of him than yet another costly special election.

The ultimate recall will be to send this poseur back to the island of unwanted Kennedys via the standard state election. He'd just steal milk money from children to pay for the recall anyway.

Tonight I worked the phone banks in Bakersfield. We (the California Teachers Association---CTA) called registered Democrats to GOTV. We asked for their support: "NO" on 74, 75, 76. Every single Democrat I spoke with tonight was supportive and promised their NO votes. It was an invigorating evening! Not one Dem hedged and all spoke with conviction! I will be working the phone banks---working to DEFEAT Ahhnold--NOV. 6,7,and NOV. 8th (D-Day), too.
Yes, this is the current way to "recall" him. The Dem platform is "Nix the first six" to humiliate and repudiate that hypocrite.

5. I'm already signed up. |

I disagree with those who say we should wait for an election. He didn't wait for the next election to run so why should we? I think it won't be hard to get those signatures. I intend to start at our local hospital and the schools in my little burg.

8. The soonest you could expect to see a recall election is June 2005 |
|
Just a few months before a regular election. Doesn't make any sense, will make voters angry at those opposing Arnie.
don't go there.

9. Oh, but I am going there. |

I don't want him to even have a chance to think of running for re-election. What about making the voters who are for recall angry? I don't think we can walk this road without making someone angry, so I intend to do what I think is right.

10. I've actually talked to Ken (who's organizing this recall) through emails. |
|

I mentioned my concerns about it and I believe he's looking at them.
I think the biggest thing he feels is everyone's frustration and the general and widely held feelings that we all need to do something. He's saying that this effort "has grown larger than him", and perhaps feels he can't stop it now even if he wanted to. I do think that he and others can help guide people in the right directions though with well-reasoned information.
However, I'm still wondering if there's an appopriate election for this. The ideal election for a recall proposition would have been this one coming up, but it's too late for that now.
We won't have a separate election for this recall. It WILL be the primary election in June, or it won't happen at all. As I noted earlier, I believe there's a lot of problems if you try to have a primary for the 2006 election for the same office as you are having a recall election in the same election. Which election do candidates campaign for. Who do they campaign against (their party's other candidates for the recall, or Arnold and other recall candidates themselves). Depending on who wins, you will have some confusing results and consequences too from that. Most likely that will translate into another group of Californians being more frustrated with the recall itself, and direct more anger and less support to the rest of us and more support for Arnold as a result. I think that's the last thing we want.
I've not commented about this, because I'm waiting for Ken to respond back with some more concrete plans on how he's going to address all of these potential confusing problems of mixing a primary with a recall election together. If he can come up with a good strategy that doesn't hurt Dems and can increase general support against Arnold, I'm all for it. But I still don't see that happening yet. I also recommend that he talk to both Westly's and Angelides' campaigns to see how they felt about this going forward and to get their druthers on how they would like it to proceed before getting too serious about it. They are the ones that are going to have the most difficulty dealing with this added election.

11. In my mail today, my local Democratic Club is throwing their |
|
support behind him. I was worried they wouldn't because they aren't flaming liberals like myself, so it looks like the more moderate Democrats are fed up with the Arnold too and are willing to give it a try. I feel it will work out.

12. I still would like to hear from Angelides folks what they feel about it... |
|
They all want the same thing we want (to win), and I'm sure they are looking at how they will manage both campaigns. If they want it to happen, then I'll want it to happen. They might not be able to be too public about it, depending on what they feel the political reaction to it would be, but I have to believe they have some strong feelings one way or the other.

13. Our club will probably bring it up at the next meeting on Nov. 1. |
|
Until then, I guess we will have to keep our ear to the ground.

in a real election not the trumped up way he usurped power. Californians R presently suffering from voter fatigue - yet another 'special election'? How much will THAT cost? so his ass can B booted in June '06 instead of Nov, '06? Sorry, as much as I want him 2 go, I want Cal Democratic legislators 2 stand up 2 his bullying and keep a tight reign until Phil Angelides is ELECTED on November, 2006.
