5. Don't forget the "evening of conscience" benefit on Thurs. 1-12
at the Grand Lake Theater (I-580 and Grand Avenue) in Oakland
to benefit WorldCantWait.

Will Durst, Mark Leno, Medea Benjamin, former National Poetry Slam
champion Marc Bamuthi Joseph, and former Poet Laureate of San Francisco,
devorah major.

7. Why don't you go with him?
It's a benefit for World Can't Wait, a national organization arranging mass
rallies in the following weeks to demand "Bush Step Down, and Take Your
Program With You!"

The performers list will feature the following:

>> Medea Benjamin has worked twenty years for human rights, social
justice, and peace. A Senatorial candidate in 2000, founder of the
anti-war group Code Pink, and author of eight books, she was ejected in
2004 from the national conventions of two political parties.

>> Marc Bamuthi Joseph has three times been the San Francisco Grand Slam
champion, and won the National Poetry Slam in 1999. Bamuthi has appeared
on the HBO "Def Poetry" series and on the Broadway stage, and has written
three plays.

>> Sunsara Taylor, an initiator of WorldCantWait and writer, has appeared
on Fox News and CNN as a commentator on world events.

>> Mark Leno is a California State Assemblyman for San Francisco. His
recent call to action against the Bush regime appeared in the San
Francisco Bay Guardian.

>> devorah major has been Poet Laureate of San Francisco. Her book of
poems, "street smarts," was awarded a PEN Oakland/Josephine Miles Award.
Ms. Major has published two novels, and last year edited an anthology of
poetry, "The Other Side of the Postcard."

>> Will Durst, a five-time Emmy-nominated political satirist, has appeared
on Letterman, Comedy Central, HBO and Showtime. He has described his
audience as "sick, twisted, paranoid toads who read--my kind of people,"
and once caused Bill Clinton to spit water out his nose laughing.

9. Even if you can't go, if you could download the poster/flier, and
stick some copies up (say on bulletin boards at laundromats and churches and grocery
stores--or more aggressively if you're the more aggressive type) you could be there
in spirit. :)
