What has happened to Air America in L.A.?
Edited on Sun Jan-08-06 08:37 PM by JDPriestly
It seems like they don't broadcast some of the really good shows. Johnny Wendel is boring as far as I'm concerned. I work and they broadcast a lot of ad shows and sports during the hours that I can listen. I'm really disappointed.

1. Ugh, Infomercials
Like in the Bay Area, the Clear Channel affiliate seems to play little on the weekends, opting for infomercials or local shows (though in the Bay Area, there's a local show that pre-empts Jerry Springer on the weekdays--which is fine, as far as I'm concerned. I'm not a fan of his talk show). Having been in the L.A. area the past month, the local talent is sometimes okay to blah, though at least they have live shows when the regulars are on vacation and AA is playing a "Best of" segment with their local talent, and that I do like.

I am irked however that they're not playing Laura Flanders--I mean come on. Her shows are fantastic, and instead there's real estate/travel shows in the Bay Area, or those bad infomercials. Ugh. It's why I have to rely on satellite radio to get some stuff I like.

3. 1150 AM does have one excellent local...
Stephanie Miller's show from 6 AM -9 AM is a hoot. I agree though with the evening and weekend programming being a little less than desirable. Just remember that 1150 is an affiliate, not Air America itself... Maybe a little pressure from us listeners might stir the pot...
