Wal-Mart abandons plans for Los Angeles store
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Retail giant Wal-Mart has scrapped plans for a San Fernando Valley store because a lengthy environmental review would have delayed the project by a year, a company official said.
The company has encountered fierce opposition in other Southern California cities. Voters in Rosemead ousted two Wal-Mart backers in 2004 and Inglewood voters last year defeated a measure that would have streamlined development of a store.

1. Great!
Didn't even know they were trying to build one here. Was this one of those ghastly superstores?
