Ron NehringRon Nehring, protege of conservative strategist Grover Norquist, Vice-Chairman of the California Republican Party and former colleague of disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff, has introduced a proposal to convert all east San Diego County schools in the Grossmont Union High School District into charter schools, RAW STORY has learned.

At a hearing Jan. 19, the Grossmont school board -- of which Nehring is a member -- voted 5-0 to begin preparing a district-wide charter petition. If approved, Nehring's proposal would make Grossmont the largest charter district in California.

1. Grossmont is notorious for this type of thing out here ..
being a wacky religious hardright community.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Gary Cass, chief honcho of the infamous Center for Reclaiming America, was instrumental in shifting the Grossmont-area school board hardright before he went onto propagandizing Christian Conservatives with the notorious D. James Kennedy.

Google "Center for Reclaiming America" and "Gary Cass." I believe that there was a writeup in the Union-Tribune (SignOnSanDiego) about him not too long ago.

This is why when my daughter's school decided to shift to a charter school, I just shifted her to another private school. These guys get in power on a school board, and it doesn't matter how the school's 'charter' was written, they will adversely influence what is going on no matter what. Next thing you know, it will be 'intelligent design' in science for all in the Grossmont district.

2. One of Nehring's "expert" endorsers advocates intelligent design.
