Senator Feinstein to Vote No on Cloture for the
Nomination of Judge Samuel Alito to be an Associate Justice
of the Supreme Court
January 27, 2006

Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today announced that she will vote no on cloture regarding the nomination of Judge Samuel A. Alito, Jr. to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court.

“Based on a very long and thoughtful analysis of the record and transcript, which I tried to indicate in my floor statement yesterday, I’ve decided that I will vote no on cloture.”

2. In other news, a freak blizzard swept through hell today
temperatures hovered in the minus 60 degree range with a wind chill factor of minus 100! :wow:

I wonder why she changed her mind?

I just thanked her for my wife and myself
Not personally but I conveyed my thanks to her office. Go DiFi! You do have a spine!

4. This is great - counteracts some of the doomsayers-
minds DO change, and this is proof that the hope of a filibuster isn't dead yet.

If DiFi will support...maybe there IS still a chance.

last week he deserved a yes vote, this week a filibuster.

What changed, Difi except your ringing phones and fax machines?

8. Indeed.
As one of so very many that beseeched her NOT to vote for this disassterous war that brought us nothing but death and expense and chaos in the Middle East, I also am not impressed with this late in the day attempt to connect with the constituency.

If she helps this effort, fine. But it will be **never** before I forget that this war profiteer ignored us and voted for the Irag invasion.

9. Would she have done this if this wasn't an election year though?
That is the real question. This was probably an election year move. Feinstein is that kind of a politician!
