A Year Later : New Gov, Same Budget problem
[]efforts to restore the state's fiscal stability have not been as successful. The legislative analyst's office still estimates the state budget deficit to be at least $6 billion for each of the next two years. And although the Wall Street credit agencies have increased the state's credit rating (something that wouldn't have happened without the recall), California's ratings are still among the lowest in the nation.

1. You mean a governor with no experience in politics or finance
hasn't been able to fix the budget deficit? I'm shocked. Shocked!

The need to repeal that prop 14 or whatever the hell it was that froze property taxes back when Reagan was governor.

What a circus.

3. that's prop 13 and I am paying up to 3k a year now
don't drive me into arizona. Prop 13 must stay. It should be modified however to remove commercial property from the protections, cause they are pulling all sorts of shit, like 99 year leases to avoid title change and stuff. But please the homeowners cannot pay for it all.

2. Wasn't this why a lot of pols stayed out of the recall race,
Edited on Fri Oct-08-04 10:20 AM by Ranec
because whoever "won" would have two years of worsening financials and then out on their ear.

For Gov. Schwarzenegger, :nopity:

A change in the California fiscal situation is not around the corner!
