San Leandro cops recommend 7 felony charges against man mauled by tiger

One of the San Jose brothers attacked by a tiger at the San Francisco Zoo on Christmas Day may face felony charges for an alleged video game shoplifting spree in Alameda County late last month.

Police are recommending Alameda County prosecutors file seven felony charges against Amritpal "Paul" Dhaliwal, 19, according to San Leandro Police Lt. Tom Overton.

They plan today to forward a report to the Alameda County District Attorney's office that recommends four counts of burglary and three counts of grand theft. Dhaliwal, the report alleges, shoplifted electronic equipment and video games at Target stores in San Leandro, Hayward and Livermore between March 24 and March 27.

Police are recommending grand theft charges be filed because the estimated loss exceeded $1,000, according to Overton.
"This guy was going into these stores to steal," Overton said. "He is going in and loading up baskets and running out or brazenly walking past the cashiers."

2. Yet another sign why the media are shit. They can't even make a truthful headline.
Or, I suppose it's technically truthful - but it's very misleading.

It's totally FOX NEWS.

And it's fucking appalling.

Any journalist who does such bullshit should be executed.

4. there is some hooey in that article, they "Think" he stole from other Target stores
but that do not have the proof yet, "they're reviewing the tapes" and imo they have no business going to print with much of the hooey in that article.

8. They've been wanting to charge this kid from the beginning
How dare he ruin tourist pictures by getting mauled! I remember hearing about "possible charges" about a week after it happened.
