3. Two things. One, people don't want to put out the Speaker and
the progressives in this district have been thoroughly demoralized as we usually work on city, state and national stuff all at the same time.

Imho, there will continue to be challenges for Pelosi until she's gone.

14. Where did you find those returns?
I would greatly appreciate a link. I was looking all over the Secretary of State's website for the primary results. Finally I had to email them and ask for information, but they only gave me a link to the list of candidates, which was only half my request.

4. There is so little reporting
in San Francisco's only major newspaper that Pelosi might as well be invisible to most who live here. There is no doubt in my mind that people voter for her because; 1) they recognize her name and 2) she is a Democrat in a district that is 85% Democrat.

5. If she is so invisible, how do people know her name?

She is popular with the Democrats in her district, as she just won her primary last month with over 89% of the vote.

8. She spent a lot of money and shoozed conspicuously with powerful Democratic figures
Like Willie Brown, Gavin Newsom, Diane Fienstein, etc.

I'll bet 80% of the people voted for her don't know that she doesn't have a permanent home in the district. She lives in Napa County. 235 Montgomery St. #610 in San Francisco is rented.

17. I didn't say she was invisible.
I said that there has been so little reporting that she might as well be invisible.

If Pelosi had died a month before the primary, she probably still would have won with 89% of the vote.

7. According to the Registrar of Voters, SF County was 55.86% registered Dems as of May 19
http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/ror/15day_stwddirprim_08/county.pdf

Only Alameda County was (slightly) higher in terms of Democrats.

16. True...
I should have said that she represents a district that has a mere 13% registered Republicans.

11. Yeah, the kind of grown up that appoints Porter Goss
to co-chair the Office of Congressional Ethics.

Alberto Gonzalez must have been unavailable.

12. there's nothing more sad than a bad loser

13. What? You mean you're fine with Goss, the one who ran illegal torture
programs, co-chairing anything that has "ethics" in the title?

What is it about "war criminal" that is unclear to you?

How f#cking low do your standards have to be before someone like that is a good candidate?

Bad loser, my ass.

15. Gioss hand picked Dusty Foggo to be CIA's Executive Director...how'd that work out re: ethics?
Goss also appointed Jose Rodriguez who ordered the destruction of evidence, "interrogation" tapes sought by courts and Congress, reportedly in spite of instructions from the DNI and Goss that they be preserved. Yet Goss took no disciplinary action against Rodriquez.

One need not be particularly anti-Pelosi to be simply boggled at Goss's appointment to an ethics committee.
