Absentee voters!
Just heard a report over local news that absentee ballots DO NOT reflect what the POSTAGE DUE should be. In some areas, the ballots weigh over an ounce, meaning there should be more postage attached to it for the ballots to make it to their destination.

Two county postmasters general, next door to each other here, have said they promise to send the absentee ballots THROUGH to destination without sending them back to the voter. They will bill the counties for the extra postage if need be. :wow:

Fortunately, my county AB is within the weight allowance for ONE STAMP. BTW, there was NO reference on the ballots themselves indicating their might need to be extra stamps added!!

Just a heads up folks. People can still walk their ballots to the voting stations or to the voter registrars in their area.

WHAT ELSE CAN HAPPEN????? Geeez

Hefty ballots, postage for absentee vote

With so many candidates and issues to decide Nov. 2, the price of democracy for some is going up - to 60 cents, the cost of first-class postage to return some lengthy absentee ballots by mail.

In Sacramento County, a new, oversized form is tipping some scales at just more than 1 ounce, requiring an additional 23 cents for postage. In Yolo County, some voters will mark lengthy ballots that could push the return envelope over the limit for a 37-cent stamp.

2. Yolo County has already paid for additional postage
The Yolo County elections Office maintains a special acccount with the US Postal Service for paying any postage due on election related mail. This practice has been in place for many years. Ballots are frequently heavier than one first class stamp. This is not news. Do not be concerned if you are a Yolo voter.
